Welder / Robot Operator

Job summary:

The Welder / Robot Operator will be responsible for performing a variety of fabricating and welding activities to support the robot and manufacturing facility. They will be required to understand the Quality Assurance system for materials entry, follow fabrication and welding processes, and produce products compliant with the ISO9001:2008 standard.


Testing:
  • Must be able to pass Class B/C  3G, ¼” plate test using GMAW Root/FCAW Cap and written test.
  • Taking and passing a 6g all Tig with a 1/2 " schedule 160 pipe is a plus.


Responsibilities:
  • Programming Fanuc CRX weld robots (On the job training)
  • Troubleshooting robot issues
  • Interpret engineering drawings
  • Willingness to assist in other areas as needed
  • Fabricate parts from drawings
  • Communicate and work alongside the robotic engineer and provide creative thinking for new jig/fixture for the robot.
  • Prepare parts for welding (saw, pillar drill, grinding, pipe bending, pipe threading, weld preparation)
  • Welding activities to class 2 standards using TIG/MIG/MAG welding on common welded joints, (to include fillet, lap, corner, and butt) in accordance with the requirements of BS 4872 Part 1
  • Ensure ALL machines and robots are checked on a daily basis completing relevant check sheets
  • Other duties as assigned


Education:
  • GCSE grade A-C Math, English and Science
  • Class A Semi-Skilled Fabricator/Welder


Skills:
  • Proof of welder approval certifications
  • Communication skills
  • Forklift License desirable


Knowledge/ Experience:
  • Fanuc CRX programming is a plus
  • Minimum of 4 years fabricating experience
  • Able to understand and read engineering drawings

Additional requirements:
