Leverage experience to get a job in agency. Working at a marketing agency (especially digital marketing, and especially as an intern) will act as a springboard to your marketing career!
I like always starting something new at the beginning or bottom, if you will, because that is the best way to learn about any new company and the many positions everyone holds. It gives you insight into the company to see the gaps and see the changes that it help grow it. Its the best way to gather alot of information that will utilize your seeing.
A previous manager of mine always said the gateway to tech was in either in service or sales; I got in through service. Once I was there, I made an effort to find gaps in marketing that I could help fill. I started with copy and social media, then organizing campaigns and reporting on analytics and it just kept going from there! It didnβt take long to find ways to step up into bigger projects, and get noticed as someone capable in marketing. I was then able to negotiate a change in title and became a full-blown marketing and content strategist! From there I was able to continue to learn and grow (still am). I think looking back on my experience and how Iβd turn it into advice for someone looking to break into marketing (specifically in tech), Iβd say
1. Donβt be greedy at first - maybe you start with something super entry-level but hey, youβve got your foot in the door!
2. Humbly learn and ask questions. Show initiative and try to figure things out yourself before leaning on others.
3. Fight for yourself. No one was just going to magically appoint me into marketing - I had to advocate for my work and the value I was providing.
4. Keep learning! Marketing is always changing. Showing that youβre always up to date with the latest knowledge really helps you stand out.

Look for smaller, boutique-like agencies. They're usually more open to newbies, great environments to learn, and fantastic to build network. You could also do more renowned agencies, but they're usually more focused on experience than willingness to learn.
I started my career as a Marketing Coordinator at a smaller company. It was tough, because I was a newbie and also the only marketing professional in the building, but I learned so much so quickly! I would also recommend an entry level agency job if you can find one. That way you can analyze what everyone there does and decide what interests you most.
The truth is that the best way to start a career in marketing is through learning. And the best way to learn is through work experience. So my suggestion is to start where you can learn the most: internships. Internships with proper training from someone who believes in you and challenges you, is the most important thing in my opinion.

Applied to 200+ jobs, still nothing. Do I really need a career coach?
