POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Collections Supervisor to join our dynamic organization. The Supervisor will be responsible for recognizing and recommending improvements to the collections process for future AR management enhancements. This role requires an individual who is independent, results-driven, and self-motivated, with a passion for contributing to a vibrant team environment. You will be responsible for crafting and executing strategies focused on risk mitigation throughout the receivables process. Your primary goal will be to ensure effective management of receivables by owning and optimizing the process to achieve swift and accurate receivable turnover. This role includes overseeing daily dunning processes, ensuring completion with 100% accuracy and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in collections and accounts receivable management, within the deregulated retail electricity sector. A deep understanding of the nuances of collections in this industry will be crucial in successfully executing your responsibilities and contributing to the organization's goals.
This position is in Houston, and the ideal candidate will be within commutable distance to the Houston office location. The position will be located out of the Chariot Energy Houston office.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop, implement and manage effective collection strategies, policies and procedures for residential and commercial accounts to maximize recovery of outstanding debt.
- Monitor and analyze collection performance metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
- Utilize data and analytics to analyze trends and patterns in collection data, driving decision-making and strategy adjustments, and providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Oversee day to day dunning process (Late Fees, Disconnect Notices, Disconnects/Reconnects, Switch holds)
- Review, investigate, and recommend action on past due accounts including third-party placements
- Coordinate with the Risk team to assess and manage risks related to delinquent accounts.
- Review, initiate, and process write-offs and bad debt recoveries.
- Manage, maintain, and report on outsourced collection agency performance to management regarding the status of receivables and collections activity.
- Reconcile A/R on customer accounts to confirm and remedy outstanding balances.
- Lead and drive the dispute resolution process from end to end, by proactively mitigating customer disputes, negotiations and ensuring customer disputes to resolution and document root cause.
- Manage and adhere to compliance protocols as outlined by the Public Utility
- Commissions and other government entities.
- Establish controls to bridge identified gaps between Customer Care, Operations, Collections, and other business stakeholders.
- Proactively identify and resolve existing and potential future account issues in a timely and accurate fashion by displaying an acute attention to detail.
- Adhere to Retail Market Guide protocols as set forth by ERCOT.
- Take lead when changes and proposed regulations occur to understand potential gaps to current processes and formulate solutions to comply.
- Establish and maintain positive business relationships with internal customers and key stakeholders in the collections process.
- Achieve excellence by delivering on key performance indicators (KPI’s).

- REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related area from accredited four-year university OR minimum four years previous supervisor experience can substitute for a degree.
- Minimum of 5 years retail electric industry experience in back-office operations (i.e., customer setup, billing, contract management, customer relations, or collections).
- Knowledge of the deregulated energy market working in ERCOT, PJM and NYISO.
- Proven experience in B2B collections, credit management, or a related field.
- Familiar with debt collection laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify trends, analyze data, and make informed decisions.
- Proven negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Proven experience managing collections for customers in the commercial/industrial/retail energy markets.
- Strong understanding of credit and collections principles and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in financial software and MS Office Suite.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Eligible to work in the USA for any employer without sponsorship.
$75,000 - $90,000 a year
