Revenue Cycle Learning Specialist

Job Summary:

Serves an instrumental role in building and deploying Adventist Health’s revenue cycle trainings. Oversees and assists with revenue cycle staff and leadership training, onboarding, competency assessments, and ongoing development. Provides training across the Revenue Cycle continuum. Uses prior revenue cycle expertise combined with knowledge of adult learning principles to achieve critical success factors. Provides strategic and operational leadership for the development and deployment of system-wide revenue cycle training programs, supporting end-to-end revenue cycle training and education for hospital, clinic, and home health operations. Determines the learning needs of revenue cycle staff and leadership to ensure appropriate and effective learning solutions and position the organization for achievement of best practice standards. Coordinates and facilitates all revenue cycle training content and courses.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Preferred
  • Three years' healthcare operations/revenue cycle experience: Preferred
  • Familiarity with revenue cycle functional processes and applications and knowledge of training and development principles, methodologies, and techniques obtained through previous experience: Required
  • Prior experience with the Cerner Millennium Health Information System and Epic: Preferred

Essential Functions:

  • Contributes to the design and implementation of curriculum to meet business needs across revenue cycle. Seeks to proactively improve learning effectiveness by using best practice methodologies aligned with performance and business outcomes.
  • Provides training and education opportunities across revenue cycle, delivering training related to revenue cycle systems, applications, processes, procedures, and organizational culture in primarily virtual and some onsite environments. Coordinates training across revenue cycle departments including patient financial services, patient access, coding, revenue integrity, clinical documentation improvement, and health information management. Identifies training needs and defines appropriate training solutions. Implements, facilitates, and maintains new hire onboarding and existing resource refresher training.  Includes scheduling, tracking, and program enhancements.
  • Prepares training materials, documentation, guides, manuals, job aids and e-learning modules. Implements consistent training methods and learning solutions to drive organizational effectiveness, increase efficiency, and strengthen colleague knowledge, abilities, and performance. Utilizes appropriate technology and methodology in delivering training and development solutions for revenue cycle operations, and in providing training on systems to all departments.
  • Contributes to improved job performance and continuous improvement across revenue cycle and its staff. Seeks opportunities to improve the methods, modalities, and approaches used for training across revenue cycle operations. Responds to general questions and issues in application of methods, techniques and processes.
  • Keeps current of training and development methodologies, practices, and tools. Acts as a subject matter expert across revenue cycle and is a resource for leadership and employees. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participates in resolution.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
