About the Role

The Lead Content Specialist, Math K-12, will provide expert educational guidance to the VP, Content & Curriculum, helping to shape high-quality math content across various product formats. We are searching for a full-time or part-time mathematics expert who will use their subject-area knowledge and experience to review, advise, and refine the development of educational materials, ensuring they align with best practices in instructional design, pedagogical standards, and market needs. This role will interact closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that math content is relevant, engaging, and effectively supports educators and learners.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide subject-matter expertise in K-12 math education to support the development and refinement of math-related products (print, digital, professional learning, etc.).
  • Collaborate with Content & Curriculum Leads and Specialists as well as the content management team to ensure product vision and instructional design align with educational goals and pedagogical frameworks.
  • Support content creators with onboarding, guidance and direction to enable quality customer driven learning experiences and resources.
  • Review and evaluate math content to ensure it adheres to established instructional and pedagogical standards.
  • Offer insights and recommendations on curriculum interpretation, assessment strategies, inquiry-based learning, and discipline-specific concepts.
  • Support the creation of prototypes and full product development, ensuring alignment with customer needs and current educational trends.
  • Provide guidance on leveraging existing products in the development of new materials or solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to conduct market research and efficacy studies, gathering best practices in mathematics education, delivery, and insights from educators and stakeholders to inform product decisions.
  • Contribute to the review and enhancement of author content, providing constructive feedback to ensure consistency and quality across products.
  • Provide thought leadership in mathematics and math pedagogy, as well as conduct product training for educators and team members as required.

The Lead Content Specialist, Math K-12 is a collaborative team player who excels in communication and is skilled at working across diverse groups. You are adept at providing clear, actionable feedback and can navigate cross-functional teams, including publishers, content managers, and authors, to drive product development. You have a deep passion for helping students, and care deeply about building developmentally appropriate learning content.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, Instructional Design, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in K-12 education, with a focus on math curriculum design and instructional support.
  • Strong understanding of pedagogy, curriculum design, and assessment in the K-12 math education context.
  • Experience in reviewing and advising on the development of educational products (print, digital, professional learning).
  • Ability to analyze and apply market research findings to product development and strategy.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, with the ability to provide actionable feedback and recommendations.
  • Strong knowledge of current trends in math education and best practices in instructional design.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing priorities effectively.
  • Comfortable working with cross-functional teams, including publishers, content managers, and authors.
