Job Description

Due to the continued growth and expansion of our Nuclear Team in our Westlakes , Cumbria office we are looking to enhance our capabilities and are seeking to recruit a Graduate Project Manager to work on high profile projects for a January 2025 onwards start. 

We are looking for graduates who are team players and open thinkers who want to contribute to some of the biggest challenges in the Nuclear sector.

About our Team 

You will be part of an exciting and diverse team, supporting us to successfully manage and deliver projects. Working closely with other AECOM Project Managers and the Engineering Teams, you will be supporting the management of external client/s for the progress, commercial and contractual responsibilities of projects.

Here's what you'll do: 

Our Nuclear Project Management Graduates are engaged in teams and work with experienced Project Managers who guide and mentor them during their time at AECOM. 

Selected candidates will be enrolled on our Graduate Development Programme and have the opportunity to develop their skills within a supporting environment which encourages challenge and collaborative behaviours.

Candidates will support delivery across a complex and diverse nuclear portfolio:

• Supporting in and leading delivery of small projects or workstreams as part of larger projects

• Engaging with and managing client and internal stakeholders

• Management of cost reporting, budgeting and invoicing.

• Supporting Development and management of project plans

• Preparation and presentation of project reporting for management

• Supporting preparation of tender responses

On the job support and learning

When a graduate starts at AECOM, we pair them with a senior member of the team who will guide and mentor them through their initial period working on live projects and business development tasks, to support with any technical queries. 

Graduate Development Programme

Our 2 year  graduate ADVANCE programme is designed to help you build your career in AECOM. You will attend a number of instructor-led training sessions where you will meet and hear from people across the business and take part in a series of interactive activities to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to succeed in your role.   Alongside the instructor-led elements of the ADVANCE programme, you will also engage with an online curriculum via AECOM University and have the opportunity to join the ADVANCE webinar series.  We will provide you with all the support and tools you need to achieve your professional development ambitions.

Qualifications

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business and/or Project Management 2:1 (or equivalent)
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business and/or Project Management 2:1 (or equivalent) would be an advantage.
  • Modules in Nuclear would be an advantage
  • Enthusiastic, hard-working, technically proficient, with ambition and drive
  • Good Microsoft Office skills essential such as Word, Excel & PowerPoint – MS Project or Primavera an advantage
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally & in writing with the confidence to engage with a variety of people (clients, colleagues, stakeholders, and sub-contractors alike) and the aptitude to rationally explain, explore and discuss issues and capture feedback
  • Enthusiastic, hard-working, with ambition and drive
  • Ability to structure & prioritise work effectively through close cooperation with the team as a whole
  • Ability to work in a team and independently without losing initiative & focus
  • Good analytic and numeracy skills with the ability to understand and present data
  • Has a problem-solving approach to work and can support project managers in finding solutions
  • Prioritises activities effectively and seeks out clarification when needed
  • Full UK driving license or equivalent that permits driving in the UK would be an advantage. Travel to other UK company sites and some international travel may be necessary as part of the role
