Job Description

The candidate should have specific experience in the following.

  • Conducting site reconnaissance and geological mapping,
  • Knowledge on engineering geology and design interface,
  • Knowledge on rock mechanics and rock mass classification systems,
  • Preparing computer aided geological mapping and geological ground models including profile and cross section preferably through AutoCAD/ ARCGIS and/ or software such as Leapfrog,
  • Knowledge on rock slope stability to perform analysis,
  • Experience in utilizing RocScience suite (Dips, RocPlane, Swedge, Topple, RSdata, RocSlide, Rocfall 2D and/or 3D),
  • Preparing geotechnical design reports.
  • Experience in performing calculations, geological and structural geology assessment, engineering geology interpretation, preparing sketches and diagrams for reports, drawings and presentations.
  • Knowledge on geotechnical Investigations (including in-situ and laboratory tests),
  • Knowledge on geohazard assessment,
  • Knowledge on rock mass design parameters,
  • Knowledge of international codes and standards.

 

A balance of experience between engineering geology design and site reconnaissance is mandatory.

The following would be considered beneficial:

  • Experience in Leapfrog software
  • Experience in 3D geological ground modelling,
  • Conducting terrain hazard assessment,
  • Knowledge on hydrogeology,
  • Geotechnical design experience including bearing capacity, settlement and liquefaction analysis,
  • Knowledge on geophysical tests and interpretations,
  • Geotechnical design experience on cut & cover/drill and blast tunnel project and/or hydraulic structures,
  • Knowledge on seismic design.

 

The use of the following software packages or their equivalent is required.

  • RocScience Suite:
    • Dips,
    • RocPlane,
    • SWedge,
    • RocTopple,
    • RocFall 2D or 3D,
    • RSData,
    • Slide2 or Slide3 (alternatively Slope W),
  • AutoCAD,
  • Knowledge on ArcGIS.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science or Engineering from an accredited University in one or more of the following subjects and a Master of Science / Engineering or PhD would be beneficial.

  • Civil Engineering,
  • Rock Mechanics,
  • Rock Engineering,
  • Foundation Engineering,
  • Working towards CEng, PE, or equivalent licensing/registration as a professional engineer.
  • Relevant registration required in Qatar, Bahrain and UAE.

 

Experience

3-8 years experience.
