Come join us!Job Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited ToThe successful candidate will work with experienced professional consultants in performing environmental assessment, underground storage tank and remediation projects related to petroleum and hazardous waste sites. The ideal candidate will have good technical and organizational skills and be able to work independently on assigned project tasks with limited supervision. The vast majority of the work (85-100%) will be conducted in the field. The candidate will serve as an Environmental Scientist supporting current and upcoming projects for the Dallas office and within the central region of Atlas. The position will be responsible for subsurface investigations, due diligence site inspections; groundwater, air, and soil sampling; and/or system sampling and routine sampling. Preference will be given to candidates with groundwater/soil sampling experience with the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ) guidance. The ideal candidate will have completed the 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and have at least one year (1) year of relevant experience. Preference will be given to candidates with a university or college degree with applicable experience, and ability to receive or have their Professional Geologist, Environmental Professional, or other similar certification in their field. Preference will also be given to candidates that have specific experience in a similar role within an environmental and engineering consulting firm. The successful candidate must be able to travel overnight as needed within Texas and Atlas’ other regions. Candidates must be willing to work both as part of a team and independently in the office as well as in the field on small and large projects. Motivated candidates willing to learn and grow within an organization that has potential for advancement should apply.RequirementsMinimum Requirements:• University or College degree in environmental sciences, environmental engineering, geology or related scientific field.• Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of one year of professional experience.• Candidates with experience in a similar role with an environmental or engineering company in Texas are also preferred.• Must locate to Dallas, Texas metro area.• Proficiency with Microsoft Office® and Teams. Understanding of CADD or GIS is also considered a plus.• Excellent task management, written and verbal skills are a must.• Ability to work effectively on multiple assignments.• Capable of working independently, under direct supervision of others, and in a team-oriented environment.• Ability to work outdoors in the field for project assignments.Technical Requirements• Basic understanding of routine tasks associated with environmental inspections and assessments, subsurface investigations, or environmental remediation projects (soil, groundwater, vapor sampling, subsurface drilling) and United States Environmental Protection Agency and State of Texas environmental regulations.• Qualified to independently conduct field soil and groundwater sampling (including various methodologies, containers, field equipment, laboratory requirements) and prepare daily field reports, document field activities and system performance specifications.• Prepare Excel tables and field summaries for a variety of regulatory-driven soil, groundwater, and remediation system reports.• Understand operation of environmental field equipment utilized by the Dallas office.Other Miscellaneous Qualities• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification preferred.• Willingness to travel in Texas and adjoining states for periods of time.• Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass Motor Vehicle Record and Drug Screening.• Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines for planning and executing work in a safe manner.• Willingness to cross-train in other areas, if needed (wetlands, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance).BenefitsAtlas offers a comprehensive benefit program to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
