Barbaricum is seeking a Digital/Social Media Specialist to support a contract for the Public Affairs and Outreach Directorate at U.S. Fleet Forces Command, in Norfolk, Virginia. This is a short term onsite assignment with an estimated duration of two months with the potential for other follow-on opportunities.

  

The Digital and Social Media Specialist will play a crucial role in enhancing Naval communication strategies, managing websites, executing social media plans, and creating engaging digital content. Candidate will maintain a strong online presence and effectively engage with target audiences.


Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with the Fleet Forces Command team to develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies that align with organizational objectives.
  • Take charge of managing and maintaining websites, ensuring the accuracy and currency of content in strict adherence to DoD policies and guidelines.
  • Create and publish captivating written and visual content for websites and various social media platforms to engage target audiences effectively.
  • Employ the PRSA RPIE methodology and SMART Objectives to develop robust communication plans, measure outcomes, and provide valuable recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide valuable support for Navy web pages through the American Forces Public Information Management System (AFPIMS).
  • Monitor and analyze website and social media analytics, including metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs), to extract data-driven insights that optimize future communication planning.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent branding and messaging across all digital platforms.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in digital communication and social media to ensure strategies remain cutting-edge.


Qualifications
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance (interim clearance not accepted)
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in digital communications, including web design/development, content creation, social media planning/execution, and website/social media analytics
  • Must have experience in communication planning and strategy
  • Must possess strong writing and editing skills to create and post content to Navy websites and social media pages that adheres to DoD policy and is free of formatting, grammar, or design principle errors
  • Must have experience crafting social media strategies and plans based on industry best practices, ideally for a DoD or government client
  • Must know how to measure communication results and effectiveness, to include analyzing metrics and KPIs from website and social media analytics reports, and making recommendations based on data to improve future communication planning
  • Must be very proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Experience content creation software within Adobe Creative Suite a plus
  • Experience with American Forces Public Information Management System (AFPIMS) a plus
