Job Description

Brightspeed is looking for a Lead Network Engineer to join our team! As the Lead Network Engineer on the Network Architecture team, you will report directly to the Director of Technology and Process Improvement. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the CPE Architect to ensure the interoperability of customer premise equipment with Brightspeed’s network. You will work within a production environment test bed to replicate issues reported by the Operations teams. Your responsibilities will include understanding the steps to reproduce an issue and driving solutions to resolve and mitigate the impact on the business or our customers.

As a Lead Network Engineer, your responsibilities will include

  • Managing the production environment test bed
  • Partnering closely with Operational teams to help root cause issues observed in the field
  • Presenting to senior leadership and summarizing projects at an executive-level
  • Serving as Tier 4 support for Operations teams with any issues being identified regarding customer premise equipment
  • Being a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on topics including DSL, GPON, field testing, remote speed testing, mobile tools, health certificate, etc. 
  • Responsibility for the migration and evolution of the copper-based network to provide the best and most reliable speeds possible to our customers
  • Working closely with vendors/3rd party partners
  • Some travel may be required
     

Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 5+ years telecommunication experience
  • Strong Operations knowledge on tools, process and systems
  • Excellent analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills
  • Extensive experience with fiber and copper facilities in a telco environment
  • Extensive experience with Office 365 including Microsoft Office, Word, Power Point and Excel
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with operational, customer service systems and applications within the network and telecommunication industry
  • Experience with IT systems requirements and development, agile processes, end to end testing
  • Experience with JIRA
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to include presentations to leadership

BONUS POINTS FOR:

  • Any previous examples of similar roles/support documents
  • Any previous knowledge of the Lumen network to understand what exists today on our Brightspeed network
  • Previous experience with system support tools that exist at Brightspeed (Automate, 
  • Previous background, experience and knowledge with Axon Orchestrator
  • Effectively communicate detail designs effectively with internal groups for documentation and platform handoff to operations teams. 
  • Work multiple projects simultaneously with the capability to run various project task in parallel to meet tight timelines
  • Prior field I&R, CO, or Carrier tech experience
  • Experience working in a DevOps environment
  • Ability to think outside of the box
