Job Brief
We are looking for a Head of Facilities and Real Estate with experience developing safe and inclusive workspaces for employees and visitors alike. This person must be comfortable operating and managing facilities with the highest standard of safety and compliance.
The Head of Facilities and Real Estate will be responsible for managing and leading both capital and operational projects at our facility in Oakland, California as it relates to our laboratory, office, and warehouse amenities. This person will be be responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness, organization, compliance, and security of the Oakland facilities and will provide a step change in all aspects of the Oakland facility. This position reports to the Chief Strategy Officer and travel may be required for this role (most travel being to Reno, Nevada).
This role is based in Oakland, California and is an on-site position.
Key Focus Areas of the role may include:
Oversee and manage the physical infrastructure, equipment, and operational aspects of the facility to ensure seamless operations
Prepare and oversee Profit & Loss statements, budget allocations, and procurement activities for all facility related needs
Manage vendor relationships, including selection, contract negotiation, and performance management to ensure quality service and cost efficiency
Manage onsite personnel including security and janitorial staff
Ability to build out the facilities organization as we continue to grow
Collaborate cross functionally with various teams and departments to keep the facility operating successfully
Monitor and maintain security systems, including access control and surveillance
Develop and own a more compressive lock up procedure
Drive the expansion into new facilities as the team grows, collaborating with key partners to identify optimal locations. This includes managing the entire process, from deal negotiation to facility build-out, ensuring spaces align with team needs
For this role, we’re looking for:
Proven track record of managing warehouse facilities to the highest standards
Strong communicator
Someone who can operate with a high degree of autonomy
Experience with P&L responsibility and track record of executing projects on time and on budget
Deep experience with cross functional team collaboration
Familiarity with purchasing and maintaining laboratory equipment
Experience planning, monitoring and managing project budgets and schedules
5+ years of project management experience

Salary range for this role is $140,000 to $200,000 per year
