The Position:

The Aquatics Director position with British Swim School is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the aquatics program and customer service interactions. Priorities include ensuring the British Swim School program is delivered according to brand and safety standards, instructor team management, initial and ongoing training, customer conversations as well as teaching lessons. This position will also require due diligence with tracking required certifications for instructors as well as continuing the employee's development and competency and skills. This individual reports directly to the franchise owner and is eager to learn and grow as the organization scales. This is full-time position targeting 30-50 hours/week. Hourly rate available as well.

Your Typical Responsibilities:

●Follow British Swim Schools curriculum to ensure safe and competent lessons.

●Establish and maintain relationships with students’ parents and/or guardians.

●Teach British Swim School lessons with encouragement and positive reinforcement.

●Teach and train new instructors on the British Swim School aquatics program.

●Maintain certifications throughout employment.

●Work evening and weekend hours as determined by business needs.

●Provide assistance to customers and swimmers from the pool deck as needed (Deck Ambassador)

●Ensure all employees are upholding their duties to full BSS standards

●Oversees all new hiring processes including talent acquisition, prescreening, interviews, testing, onboarding and training.

●Manage the training progress of all new hires

●Greet all parents and make warm introductions to new families on their first day

●Manage employees’ schedules and provide coverage where needed (fill in for Swim Instructor and Deck Ambassador)

●Track Employee performance and provide observations, feedback and reprimands or corrective action in response to employee misconduct including excessive absences or tardiness.

●Manage swim lesson calendar and execute move ups, transfers, future drops and future enrolls.

●Answer existing and new customer phone calls

●Management of all new customer acquisition and existing customer retention including phone, online and in-person sales.

●Manage attendance for out sick swimmers via phone call/text and JackRabbit

●Design, lead and manage all in-service trainings (1-2x/month) to cover extended knowledge and correction of our curriculum and program as well as constant reinforcement of American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid training.

●Communicate with owner our program needs, changes, and inventory levels at each pool.

●Ensure highest safety levels are in place at all pools and alert owner to all necessary changes/equipment needs.

●Attend all continued learning training sessions.

●Join/watch/participate in all BSS aquatics panel and stroke development team calls.

●All other duties deemed necessary to this role.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to instruct swimming lessons within a structured program.
  • Willing to undergo a background check and drug test.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ Years Experience teaching swim lessons
  • 3+ Year so of combined Aquatics Experience (teaching, lifeguarding, swim coach, aquatics management, etc..)
  • 2+ Years of management experience
  • Experience training and onboarding other employees
  • Experience teaching babies, kids and adults
  • Ability to arrive and perform duties at multiple locations within the Reno/Sparks area.
  • Ability to complete virtual (online) training.
  • Available to work all weekends and weekday afternoons.
  • Must be able to pass background check and drug test and provide at least 2 professional references.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active lifeguard certification.
  • 5+ years of combined experience in aquatics, teaching or parks & recreation.
  • Bilingual - Proficiency in Spanish
  • Managerial Experience
  • Hiring manager experience
  • Experience teaching people with disabilities and special needs.
  • Experience in schedule creation and Payroll
  • Experience with admin functions including answering customer calls.
  • Safesport certification
  • Certified Pool Operator License
  • Lifeguard Instructor
  • Bachelors in child development, early education, psychology, sports eduction, business administration, parks & recreation or related field
