Machinist Apprentice

Position Overview:

Assist experienced machinists with the setup, operation, and maintenance of machining equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC machines.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Learn to interpret technical drawings and specifications to produce accurate parts.
  • Measure and inspect finished components using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure they meet required tolerances.
  • Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and make necessary adjustments under supervision.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Gain knowledge of various materials, machining techniques, and cutting tools to optimize production processes.
  • Document and record work activities, measurements, and maintenance performed.
  • Punctually and reliably attend designated shifts.


Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in mathematics, drafting, or shop classes is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems and tools.
  • Strong willingness to learn and take direction from experienced team members.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and communicate effectively.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.


Skills:
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or workshop setting is advantageous but not required.


$15 - $18 an hour
