Overview:The NC Nurse Practice Act necessitates that healthcare providers assess, plan, implement, document, organize, prioritize, delegate, supervise, and coordinate the care of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.Responsibilities:The nursing care provided involves utilizing the nursing process to develop a nursing plan, implementing it and evaluating its effectiveness. The patient and/or significant others' data is collected and analyzed. The initial admission database is completed, and assessments continued, in collaboration with the patient, significant others and healthcare providers. The plan of care is made individualized based on age-specific needs, and clinical pathways are used as appropriate. The interventions are evaluated and adjusted based on identified variances and their effectiveness in improving patient outcomes. Documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and readily available to keep patients, significant others, and the healthcare team informed. The nursing care team identifies and implements the required homecare needs to support the discharge plan. The nurse is highly competent, with advanced skills in critical thinking and knowledge to handle any changes in a patient's condition. Education needs are identified, and interventions put in place to support patient and/or significant others' learning.Forms compassionate and curative connections between the nursing/health care team, patients, and significant others. Distinguishes hindrances to communication and develops strategies to overcome communication barriers. Exhibits high regard for diversity and cultural diversities of patients/significant others regarding various aspects like age, ethnicity, gender, religion, socio-economic status, education, personality traits, or other specifications. Devises customized solutions to cater to unique differences of patients/individuals regarding cultural disparities or other relevant specifications. Upholds the rights of patients/significant others and vocalizes their concerns in the right forums. Exhibits adeptness in resolving customer needs by acting in response to the specific situation in hand.Plays an active role in creating action plans, analyzing data from quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities, and making changes to clinical practice where necessary. Is familiar with regulatory standards set by relevant organizations such as TJC, DFS, and OSHA, and works diligently to ensure adherence by self and colleagues.Strives for productive conflict resolution by promoting an environment that establishes communication, reliability, and mutual understanding.Qualifications:EDUCATION:Required:• Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN)Preferred:• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)EXPERIENCE:Required:• New RN Graduates: Acceptance into Cone Health New Graduate program or completion of an acute care new graduate program.Preferred:• Experienced RN : One year of Acute Care RN experience is preferred. Hiring leader may consider other RN experience at their discretion.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIREDRN | Registered Nurse licensed in North Carolina or a Compact state.BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare ProviderPREFERREDThe following certifications are preferred and may be required within a certain timeframe of hire as defined by the specific nursing unit.Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN)Safe Training and Responsible Restraints (STARR)
