Job Description

Expected to ensure that the warehouse is running smoothly while adhering to the rules and regulations set forth by Expeditors, with safety being the priority. Ensure that shipments are unloaded, documented, stored, pulled, labeled and transferred to the carrier timely and correctly.

  • Safety is the FIRST duty and responsibility for everyone that works in an Expeditors warehouse. Ensure all vendor safety practices are adhered to, instruct others of proper safety practices and advise supervisor of abuses
  • Agents will closely work with the shift lead to ensure a smooth operation for the day and for the week. All inconsistencies to the plan will be discussed with the supervisor.
  • Maintain the level of appearance of the warehouse expected by the Expeditors culture
  • Check for and verify all documentation while completing required processes accurately and efficiently
  • Unload and load cargo in a safely, accurately and efficiently
  • Arrange for the transfer of cargo using radio, telephone and computer communication
  • Responsible for updating and entering event codes when necessary
  • When instructed, responsible for conducting cycle counts, physical inventories and the overall accuracy of the inventory stored within the facility.
  • Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment in the process of moving products safely.

Qualifications

  • Education (preferred level) high school diploma.
  • Experience (minimum level of direct experience in a similar position) 6 months or more.
  • Knowledge/ Skills: Must be able to read, count accurately, do simple math (add, subtract, divide, multiply) and write legibly. Must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis. Must be able to use proper lifting techniques. The ability to follow directions with emphasis on safety is extremely important. Must be able to handle stress caused in meeting deadlines with tight scheduling requirements. Must be able to shift priorities easily. Must be able to use hands and feet simultaneously and for repetitive movements.
  • Special Requirements: Must have excellent work habits. Must be familiar with warehouse systems.
  • Fork-lift certification may be required within 6 months of employment.

Additional Information

Starting Pay 40,000 - 50,000 per year
