The University of Oregon’s Robert D. Clark Honors College (CHC) seeks a full-time, 12-month professional academic advisor. The mission of CHC advising is to enhance our students’ college experience by ensuring that all students feel that they belong in the CHC and providing assistance that will support students’ primary educational goal of attaining a degree. The CHC’s advising operation includes an Assistant Dean of Advising and Strategic Partnerships, a Director of First-Year Experience who also advises first-year students (in addition to this position), peer mentors, and approximately 25 faculty advisors who provide advising beginning in students’ second year.
First-year advisors assist students holistically with academic planning, course registration, academic success strategies, selecting majors and minors, and developing plans for completion of requirements. CHC advisors work as part of a dynamic team that includes CHC professional and faculty advisors, major advisors, and other student success campus partners. They troubleshoot academic problems and advise on policies and procedures. This position involves maintenance of advising-related materials and projects and will contribute to the CHC’s goal of creating a welcoming and inclusive community.
