In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of deploying cutting-edge drone solutions that support public safety agencies. You’ll manage end-to-end deployment of our DFR projects, which involve complex hardware, software, and service integrations, ensuring each project is delivered on time, within scope, and to Flock’s high standards. As a key cross-functional liaison, you’ll coordinate efforts across teams and third-party vendors, tackle logistical challenges, and drive process improvements to support the scaling of the DFR program. This position is perfect for a driven project manager who’s excited about contributing to innovative technology with a meaningful impact on community safety.

The Skillset:

  • Project Management Expertise: Proven experience managing complex projects with multiple phases, ideally in technology or hardware deployment.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong ability to work effectively with diverse teams (e.g., sales, engineering, deployment, and third-party vendors) to ensure project success.

  • Technical Acumen: Familiarity with hardware and software deployment processes, with the ability to understand and manage technical project requirements.

  • Risk Management: Skilled in identifying potential project risks and developing mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.

  • Strong Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for regular reporting, stakeholder updates, and vendor coordination.

  • Time Management and Prioritization: Ability to handle multiple projects with competing deadlines, prioritize effectively, and manage time to meet milestones.

  • Problem-Solving: Adaptable and resourceful in troubleshooting and addressing deployment challenges as they arise.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to analyze project data, evaluate outcomes, and leverage insights to drive continuous improvements.

  • Process Improvement: Experience in process evaluation and optimization, with a focus on efficiency and scalability.

Preference for:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification: Formal project management certification, demonstrating proficiency in project management methodologies and best practices.

  • Public Safety Experience: Background working with or managing projects for public safety agencies (e.g., law enforcement, emergency services), with a strong understanding of their unique needs, compliance requirements, and operational challenges.

  • Knowledge of FAA Part 107: Solid understanding of FAA Part 107 regulations for drone operations, including safety protocols, airspace classifications, and regulatory compliance standards.

  • Commercial UAS  Experience: Hands-on experience with commercial UAS technology. Familiarity with the setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of commercial UAS systems.

Feeling uneasy that you haven’t ticked every box? That’s okay; we’ve felt that way too. Studies have shown women and minorities are less likely to apply unless they meet all qualifications. We encourage you to break the status quo and apply to roles that would make you excited to come to work every day.

90 Days at Flock

We are a results-oriented culture and believe job descriptions are a thing of the past. We prescribe to 90 day plans and believe that good days, lead to good weeks, which lead to good months. This serves as a preview of the 90 day plan you will receive if you were to be hired as a Project Manager, DFR at Flock Safety.

The First 30 Days

In the first 30 days, the Project Manager will onboard and immerse themselves in Flock’s mission, values, and DFR program objectives. They will familiarize themselves with project details, reviewing documentation, timelines, and requirements of the deployment process. Key activities will include building relationships with cross-functional teams and external partners, learning project management tools and processes, and understanding the technical aspects of the Flock Aerodome hardware ecosystem. The role will also involve shadowing customer calls, observing ongoing DFR projects, and preparing for the Part 107 certification exam. By the end of the month, the Project Manager will begin taking on initial project assignments, coordinating efforts with senior staff to ensure successful deployments.

The First 60 Days

In the next 60 days, the Project Manager will take ownership of a smaller, defined component of a DFR deployment, gaining hands-on experience with Flock and Aerodrome’s systems, processes, and technologies. This will involve actively managing the scope, schedule, and resources for the project component, ensuring alignment with key stakeholders. The role will also include leading their first technical feasibility and project alignment session, preparing the necessary materials and coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure that project requirements, timelines, and resources are clearly defined and agreed upon. By the end of this phase, the Project Manager will have a deeper understanding of deployment challenges, risks, and solutions, and will be positioned to take on larger project responsibilities in the future. Additionally, they will continue to develop their technical knowledge, including operational aspects of the Flock Aerodome hardware ecosystem, as well as deployment best practices for hardware and software integration.

90 Days & Beyond

In the final 30 days of the 90-day period, the Project Manager will take full responsibility for one or more active DFR projects, managing them from planning through to execution. Under the mentorship of an experienced project manager, they will coordinate all phases of the project, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met. A key milestone during this phase will be successfully completing their first core project milestones. Additionally, the Project Manager will coordinate the efforts of internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the installation of complex hardware components within the Flock Aerodome hardware ecosystem. Successful installation of this equipment will be a critical achievement in the project’s progression, demonstrating the Project Manager's ability to handle the technical and operational complexities of large-scale DFR deployments. By the end of the 90 days, the Project Manager will be fully integrated into the team and capable of leading projects independently, managing both the technical and logistical aspects of DFR deployments.
