Product Designer | Garmin Connect Team

We are a global company with offices in the US, Europe and Asia. In these centers, we carry out the various stages of product development, from initial concept to mass production of ready-to-sell units. As a Product Design working in our office in Cluj, you will be part of a team that works on Garmin Connect, the fitness and wellness application that millions of Garmin customers rely on.

Garmin Connect Mobile is our best known, Fitness and Outdoor power-house companion app catering to over 20 million active users and supporting an ever-growing number of compatible Garmin devices (around 150 at this point). The feature set is very rich and targets our complex user base with running, cycling, wellness, training, smartwatch, golfing, diving, and even pregnancy tracking feature.

From this role, you will:

  • Be involved in every aspect of our product design process
  • Utilize full range of user experience design, interaction design and visual design skills
  • Work closely with associates from various departments to research, prototype, design, and create highly usable interaction solutions

We believe that collaboration leads to the best ideas, and we rely heavily on team interaction. As a hybrid role based in Cluj-Napoca, this position will require at least 3 days in the office each week.

Responsibilities:

  • Expert use and knowledge of UX/UI design tools such as Figma
  • Guide design direction for multiple projects
  • Design input to product development plans and concept documents
  • Understand production and operation issues as they relate to UX/UI
  • Contribute to design reviews across multiple product types
  • Provide substantial contributions to determine the feasibility of project goals and objectives
  • Expertise on best user experience practices for a variety of different features
  • Provide feedback on designs in areas of expertise to team members
  • Demonstrate an understanding of business needs as they relate to design
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency, commitment and focus in developing high-quality solutions in a timely fashion
  • Independently determine general approaches and specific solutions to technical problems
  • Demonstrate good judgment in setting schedules and risk-taking
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and cross-functional stakeholders throughout the design process (i.e., from design hypothesis to creating user flows and wireframes to the specification and build of user interface mockups and prototypes)
  • A portfolio that demonstrates refined digital product design skills across multiple projects
  • Advanced knowledge of usability principles
  • Advanced abilities implementing a design thinking process
  • Advanced knowledge of design principles
  • Advanced knowledge of user interface design principles
  • Advanced abilities designing screens and user interfaces
  • Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
  • Proficiency in English
