Software Engineer: Infrastructure

Gauntlet leads the field in quantitative research and optimization of DeFi economics. We manage market risk, optimize growth, and ensure economic safety for protocols facilitating most spot trading, borrowing, and lending activity across all of DeFi, protecting and optimizing the largest protocols and networks in the industry. We build institutional-grade vaults for decentralized finance, delivering risk-adjusted onchain yields for capital at scale. Designed by the most vigilant, quantitative minds in crypto and informed by years of research. As of April 2025, Gauntlet manages risk and incentives covering over $42 billion in customer TVL.


Gauntlet continually publishes cutting-edge research that informs our risk models, alerts, and analysis, and is among the most cited institution — including academic institutions — in terms of peer-reviewed papers addressing DeFi as a subject. We’re a Series B company with around 75 employees, operating remote-first with a home base in New York City.


Gauntlet’s mission is to drive adoption and understanding in the financial systems of the future. Building with decentralized systems creates novel challenges for mechanism designers, smart contract developers, and end-users of financial products, which are not seen in traditional software development and investing contexts. Team Overview


The Infrastructure Team maintains and optimizes the underlying systems and networks that support all company operations. They focus on ensuring our infrastructure's high availability, performance, and security. The team works on designing scalable architecture, implementing robust monitoring and alerting systems, and automating processes to improve efficiency. They also collaborate closely with other teams to support the deployment and operation of applications, ensuring seamless integration and performance across our platforms.


Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable infrastructure solutions for Gauntlet’s platforms, including projects focused on enhancing network security, optimizing cloud resource allocation, and developing automated deployment pipelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and enhance infrastructure systems tailored to the company's needs, with upcoming projects involving integrating new blockchain technologies and real-time data processing capabilities.
  • Participate in code and design reviews specific to infrastructure projects, offering constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to best practices in infrastructure development.
  • Stay informed about emerging infrastructure technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and improve system architecture.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation to support infrastructure operations and facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure-related issues, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the platform's services.


Qualifications
  • 3+ years of professional experience in software development, focusing on infrastructure and platform engineering.
  • Proficient in at least one programming language commonly used for infrastructure automation and scripting, such as Python, Bash, or Go.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools, such as Terraform or Ansible, and cloud platforms, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on building scalable, reliable, and efficient infrastructure systems.
  • Strong skills in CI/CD processes and tools, emphasizing automating and streamlining deployment pipelines.
  • Experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration and management

The national pay range for this role is $165,000 - $205,000 plus additional On Target Earnings potential by level and equity in the company. Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for a company of our size and industry, and are one part of many compensation, benefits and other reward opportunities we provide. Individual pay rate decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skill set, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company.
