Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for analyzing problems using engineering, business (financial), logistics and human resources related principles while developing solutions to such problems.  Develop new approaches and techniques to labor management in order to improve productivity and accuracy within the distribution network.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proficient in Process Improvement utilizing Lean Six Sigma
  • Experience with time studies, work measurement, engineering standards and data collections
  • Review employees and department productivity and partner with operations to develop action plans to improve performance
  • Directs or conducts studies to ascertain the best sequence of operations or workflow.
  • Recommends methods to ensure the maximum utilization of facilities and human resources.
  • Prepares cost estimates for assigned projects.
  • Establishes methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel
  • Conducts cost/inventory/production control and human factors studies to develop and implements plans for facility modifications and revisions to operating methods
  • Identify and develop best practices/ SOP’s to improve efficiency and provide consistent output at the distribution center
  • Design, recommend and implement state-of-the-art logistics, material handling and information systems that encompass distribution and transportation
  • Liaison between operations and MIS in the implementation of newly designed or redesigned systems.
  • Develop financial and operational plans on a daily, weekly and annual basis
  • May assist in establishing accident prevention measures and manage production operations training programs for personnel
  • Maintain good communication with other departments and employees
  • Function effectively at both strategic and tactical levels
  • Additional duties as assigned

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Continuous Improvement Engineering, Logistics or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required
  • Advanced degree in Continuous Improvement Engineering preferred.
  • 2-3+ years’ experience required
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Min. Green Belt)
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Access, Auto CAD, MS office
  • Labor Management Experience preferred.
    • Time Studies
    • Blue Yonder
  • Macro or VBA experience and SQL a plus
  • Ability to develop ROI for capital projects.
  • Experience using MOST or other pre-determined T.S. a plus.
  • Travel expectations up to 10%
  • Proven leadership skills including the ability to coach, assess, evaluate, develop, motivate, and empower others
  • Strong change management skills to challenge the status quo and drive improvements
  • Ability to exercise high ethical standards
  • Ability to display “leadership by example” management style and work ethic
  • Models and supports organization’s goals and values
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
    • Ability to have touch conversations at all levels of the organization (i.e. hold people accountable) 
  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
  • Must have current driver’s license.
