Your role
We are looking for an experienced Energy Domain Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our product team. The SME will play a critical role in localizing our product for energy retailers in the US - with an initial focus on deregulated energy markets. This role involves deep collaboration with cross-functional teams, providing expert insights into the local energy market, regulatory landscape, and industry practices. The ideal candidate will leverage their domain expertise to ensure our product is tailored to meet regional needs and deliver maximum value to our customers.
Where and how you’d work
Headquartered in Antwerp, we also have an office in London and co-working spaces in Reading (UK), Austin (US), and Melbourne (ANZ). This is a Remote-First role from within Texas. You have a choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.
What you'll do
Energy Retailer Domain Expertise:
Serve as the primary energy industry expert within the product team, providing in-depth knowledge of the local energy market, including regulations, standards, and best practices:
Have a deep understanding of energy retailer processes in areas such as pricing, forecasting, and/or portfolio analysis
Stay updated on regional energy trends, policy changes, and emerging technologies to inform product development and strategy.
Product Localization:
Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and designers to localize Gorilla’s product for the US market.
Ensure the product meets local requirements and addresses specific challenges faced by regional energy retailers.
Product testing and feedback to ensure that domain-specific features work as they should and that the software reflects industry best practices.
Training and Support:
Provide training and support to internal teams and external partners on local energy market dynamics and product functionalities.
Develop documentation and resources to aid in the regional adoption of our solutions.
Market Analysis:
Collaborate with product managers, marketers, and researchers with competitive analysis and benchmarking to identify opportunities and threats in the local market.
Provide strategic insights to guide market entry and expansion efforts in the US.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Act as the liaison between the product team and local stakeholders, including customers, regulators, and industry bodies.
Gather and synthesize feedback from local users to inform product enhancements and feature development.
What you'll need
Deep expertise in US energy market regulations, retail operations and industry trends.
Experience working in a product development environment, preferably in SaaS or tech.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex industry requirements into actionable product insights.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Morning:
Start the day by reviewing updates on local energy market regulations and industry news.
Attend a virtual stand-up meeting with the product team to discuss progress, challenges, and priorities.
Collaborate with product managers and engineers to review the latest product features, providing insights on local compliance and market needs.
Midday:
Engage in a video conference with local energy retailers to gather feedback on the current product version.
Afternoon:
Prepare and deliver a training session for the sales team, focusing on the unique aspects of the local energy market.
Work on developing documentation and resources to support product localization efforts.
Summarize the day’s findings and share insights with the broader product team.
Plan for the next day’s tasks and priorities, ensuring alignment with the overall product strategy.
End the day by catching up on industry reports and publications to stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies.
