Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Director, Clinical Education, to join our team and drive educational initiatives across our global key accounts.

Job Overview: 

The Senior Director, Clinical Education, is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the clinical education strategy and execution at Guardant Health.

This role will focus on building and managing strong partnerships with our Key Accounts (including healthcare providers, academic centers, and other strategic partners) while ensuring that stakeholders understand the clinical implications of implementing Guardant Technology in oncology care. As the subject matter expert in clinical education, this individual will collaborate globally to inform clinical pathway development, establish best practices, and ensure the successful integration of our precision medicine solutions.

The ideal candidate will bring substantial clinical experience as a practicing Medical Oncologist, coupled with expertise in the development and delivery of world-class educational programs in precision oncology. The Senior Director will serve as a key thought leader, guiding the clinical education strategy across internal teams, external partners, and customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Education Leadership:
    • Serve as the subject matter expert on clinical implications of Guardant Technology and its role in precision oncology, particularly in the context of liquid biopsy, genomic testing, and targeted therapies.
    • Lead and develop global clinical education strategies for key accounts, ensuring that clinical teams and stakeholders are fully educated on the scientific and clinical value of Guardant Technology.
    • Establish and maintain best practices for clinical education that align with the company’s strategic goals and ensure effective pathway development and clinical implementation.
    • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Product, Clinical Affairs, Marketing, Sales) to ensure the integration of clinical education within broader go-to-market strategies.
  • Key Account Partnerships & Pathway Development:
    • Build and manage long-term partnerships with Key Accounts, including leading organizations in oncology care, academic medical centers, hospitals, and health systems.
    • Develop tailored educational programs for Key Accounts to ensure successful implementation and integration of Guardant Technology into clinical workflows.
    • Work with clinical and operational teams at Key Accounts to inform the development of clinical pathways, including biomarker-guided treatment plans and personalized care strategies.
    • Ensure that clinical education programs address real-world challenges in oncology practice and contribute to the advancement of precision medicine at scale.
  • Global Collaboration & Thought Leadership:
    • Collaborate closely with regional and global teams to align on clinical education strategies and share insights from key accounts that can inform product development and strategic planning.
    • Represent the company as a thought leader at medical and scientific conferences, industry events, and forums, promoting Guardant Technology and its clinical applications.
    • Engage with academic institutions, KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders), and thought leaders in oncology to remain at the forefront of clinical advancements in precision oncology.
  • Training & Educational Content Development:
    • Lead the design, development, and delivery of clinical education content, including training modules, workshops, webinars, and in-person sessions for both internal teams and external stakeholders.
    • Ensure educational materials are scientifically accurate, up-to-date, and tailored to the needs of diverse clinical audiences.
    • Provide ongoing support and training for internal teams (sales, marketing, medical affairs) to ensure they are equipped to communicate the clinical benefits of Guardant Technology effectively.
  • Clinical Excellence & Continuous Improvement:
    • Drive a culture of clinical excellence within the organization, ensuring the highest standards of education and clinical practice are met across all educational programs.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of clinical education programs and partnerships, using data and feedback to continuously improve educational offerings.
    • Stay abreast of the latest clinical research, regulatory updates, and clinical trial results in precision oncology to inform educational content and pathway development.

Qualifications

  • Medical Degree (MD or DO) with board certification in Medical Oncology or a related field.
  • 10+ years of clinical experience as a practicing Medical Oncologist, with recent experience in direct patient care, ideally within a precision oncology or oncology clinical trial setting.
  • Leadership experience in clinical education or medical affairs, with a proven track record of designing and executing educational initiatives in oncology or precision medicine.
  • Expertise in precision oncology, including familiarity with genomic testing, liquid biopsy, and targeted therapies.
  • Experience working with Key Accounts in the healthcare space (hospitals, academic institutions, large health systems) to develop and implement clinical pathways and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of global healthcare markets, clinical practices, and regulatory landscapes in oncology.
  • Proven ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams, with experience collaborating globally across diverse teams and geographies.
  • Exceptional presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex clinical concepts to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify needs, develop actionable solutions, and drive results.
  • A passion for advancing precision medicine and improving patient outcomes through education and collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in industry partnerships (e.g., with pharma, biopharma, or diagnostic companies) focused on oncology and precision medicine.
  • Track record of public speaking or thought leadership in oncology, with publications or speaking engagements at major conferences or academic forums.
  • Experience in pathway development for oncology, including collaborations with healthcare providers, payers, and industry stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel as needed, up to 75% of the time, to meet with partners, customers, and attend industry events.

Additional Information

Hybrid Work Model: At Guardant Health, we have defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. We have found aligning our scheduled in-office days allows our teams to do the best work and creates the focused thinking time our innovative work requires. At Guardant, our work model has created flexibility for better work-life balance while keeping teams connected to advance our science for our patients.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $288,200 to $389,070. The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries across all US locations for the posted role with the exception of any locations specifically referenced below (if any).

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. If you are selected to move forward, the recruiting team will provide details specific to the factors above.

Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
