Position Summary

Harness is seeking a visionary and hands-on Director of Product Design to lead our design team in shaping the future of our platform. This role demands a strategic thinker who can navigate the complexities of a matrixed organization, driving cross-functional collaboration to deliver exceptional user experiences. As a leader, you will be instrumental in guiding design initiatives and mentoring designers to achieve their full potential.​

About the Role

  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and leadership teams to deliver intuitive, scalable interfaces that help our customers modernize their software delivery processes and ship better software, faster.
  • Build and scale a team of designers, growing their skills and careers while fostering a high-performance, customer-obsessed team culture
  • Inspire and motivate the team to do their best work while creating a clear design vision that aligns with Harness’ goals
  • Advocate for design excellence at every stage of the product lifecycle, balancing speed, quality, and bold experimentation
  • Redefine best-in-class software design and development processes

About You

  • Several years of experience leading high-caliber design teams. Experience designing for developer tooling / cloud software / enterprise software is strongly preferred
  • Excellent visual, UI, and interaction skills
  • Experience designing interactive applications
  • Experience with design tools such as Figma
  • Excel at balancing detail-oriented design with big-picture strategy
  • Relentless in delivering customer-focused experiences, combining user insights with business goals to drive meaningful outcomes
  • Thrive in cross-functional collaboration, aligning design efforts with Product, Engineering, and Leadership stakeholders
  • Exceptional communication skills, using storytelling to clarify complex problems and inspire teams
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and finding the right balance between quality, speed, and experimentation
