Upper School Spanish Teacher

Head-Royce School is seeking a full-time Spanish teacher to join our Upper School World Language team. We seek teachers who are not only excited by the content they teach, but who are also actively engaged in evolving their classroom pedagogy.

Head-Royce teachers serve as advisors and club sponsors and participate in the life of the community. We seek applicants who have a strong academic background, experience in culturally responsive teaching, a deep understanding of adolescents, and a genuine fondness for working with students at this specific age level. 


Skills
  • Experience teaching Spanish up to and including college level courses.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practice in culturally responsive teaching and learning. 
  • Clear communicator with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social/emotional development and developmentally appropriate curriculum for culturally responsive teaching and learning. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of and curiosity regarding curriculum design, varied pedagogical approaches including multiple assessment modalities. 
  • Strong organizational skills.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish Language and/or Literature or equivalent area of study
  • Fluent or Native Spanish speaker
  • 2-5 years minimum teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated desire to teach at the high school level.
  • Understanding and support of Head-Royce’s core values with strong emphasis on equity and social justice.
  • Ability to participate in an outdoor education trip for 1-3 nights (additional stipend paid).
  • Ability to provide proof of Covid Vaccination as well as TB clearance.


Additional Qualifications (preferred, not required)
  • Advanced degrees/certification are desirable in Spanish or Spanish education.
  • Ability to teach French, Latin, or Mandarin
  • Experience with innovative approaches to teaching language, such as with Comprehensible Input or Integrated Performance Assessments


$75,000 - $125,000 a year
*Dependent on Years of Experience Teaching and Education Level
