Premedia Artist

The Role 

The Premedia Artist role is a technical, prepress-focused position dedicated to preparing client-supplied artwork for accurate and efficient film and digital output. This is not a creative or graphic design role. Premedia Artists follow established processes, utilizing their expertise in prepress workflows, print production, and color reproduction to ensure files are optimized for a variety of digital and direct printing devices. 


Core Responsibilities
  • Preflight client files and evaluate artwork based on the requirements of the job. Determine if supplied artwork is acceptable and make recommendations to solve problems and complete projects.
 
  • Analyze construction of client files and modify when needed; requiring intermediate skills in Illustrator and Photoshop and proficiency in art creation and color correction.

  • Analyze client files and make adjustments to digital files to achieve proper color conversion, image placement, and corrections.

  • Operate a variety of output devices: image setters, spectrophotometers, color copiers, and large format inkjet printers.

  • Maintenance of image setters, film processors, color printers and inkjet printers.
 
  • Vendor contact and ordering of paper, film, and inkjet supplies.

  • Work overtime as needed. 


Qualifications
  • Advanced skills in Photoshop and Illustrator with an emphasis on image creation, color correction, ink trapping, and spot colors for packaging.
 
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented and organized.

  • Must be customer-focused with a desire to produce the highest quality product in the industry.
 
  • Excellent communication skills.
 
  • Works well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.


Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, preferably.
 
  • 3-5 Years of Prepress/Premedia experience


Other
  • Willing to work a shift starting at 12:00 PM


$29 - $35 an hour
