Human Resources Business Partner

Lessen is one of the fastest growing companies in the real estate services industry.  Our proprietary technology platform provides clients with portfolio dashboards, the ability to review and approve project estimates, check in on project progress in real time and pay vendors all in one place!  But we aren’t just a tech company.  We are also a property service delivery company offering renovations, turns and maintenance to residential and commercial clients.  Lessen recently acquired SMS Assist, an industry-leading facilities maintenance technology and delivery company. The new combined national footprint will serve more than 250,000 properties, facilitate approximately 2.5 million repair and maintenance orders, and complete nearly 20,000 renovation and turn projects per year.  Lessen has quickly evolved from exciting startup to valued partner, delivering scalable and turnkey property services to our clients.


The HR Business Partner establishes impactful relationships with assigned business units to inspire positive employee engagement and ensure people programs and policies are in alignment with company objectives.  As both a strategic and tactical advisor to business leaders and teammates, you will promote Lessen’s Cultural Values through HR strategies and programs designed to attract, develop, and retain the best talent.  If you are a motivated and self-directed doer who is passionate about employee experience and adding tangible value to the business you support, we should talk!


What You'll Do:
  • Meet regularly with designated business units in a proactive approach towards building a positive company culture
  • Monitor business unit metrics and trends, provide guidance, develop solutions, and execute programs resulting in positive impacts
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues including conducting thorough and impartial investigations
  • Provide guidance on business unit restructuring, workforce, and succession planning
  • Drive best practices in performance management and assist with translating business objectives into department and individual performance goals
  • Empower and support business leaders in developing their team members and advancing their careers
  • Identify and improve leadership and management practices by collaborating on effective development strategies
  • Lead the design and deployment of HR programs within designated business units and support positive change management through business unit leaders
  • Partner with business unit leaders and managers to drive results, ensure effective use of HR programs to retain and engage team members
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws, and ensure fair and consistent management of team members to reduce risk and ensure regulatory compliance


You Should Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent years of experience
  • Minimum of 8 years in an HR function with at least 2 years in a Senior HR role
  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred
  • Multi-state or at least multi-site HR support experience
  • Strong working knowledge of HR practices and principles including employment law & compliance, employee relations, retention, and employee engagement
  • Proven ability to effectively coach at all levels of the organization through complex and difficult issues
  • Strong relationship building skills, effective verbal and written communication and negotiation capabilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment while maintaining superior organizational skills, attention to detail and integrity
  • A high level of discretion and confidentiality
