Position Summary:


The Talent Acquisition Partner will ensure that the most effective, outcomes-oriented and mission-aligned teachers and support staff join Mastery Schools. The Talent Acquisition Partner will help drive teacher and support staff hiring in Mastery’s network of schools.  They will execute and maintain a high-caliber staff hiring process, including application screening, interviewing, supporting campus hiring managers, and matriculating candidates.  Operating with both a critical eye and a customer service-driven mindset, they will cultivate strong applicant sources, manage relationships with top prospective applicants and hiring managers, and guide candidates through the selection and hiring process.  They will train extensively in Mastery’s teacher and support staff selection processes in order to manage teacher and support staff recruitment needs at a subset of campuses.  They will work to develop strategic partnerships with school leaders at those campuses to understand the vision and direction of our schools and the talent needed to achieve this vision. 


Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage the candidate pipeline for assigned teacher and support staff positions. Pipeline management includes: application screening, maintaining accurate candidate statuses, providing status updates to candidates, processing referral candidates, re-engaging former candidates, recommending candidates to more aligned positions 
  • Schedule and conduct candidate-centric, competency-aligned, and efficient first-round selection processes for prospective staff 
  • Coordinate with other Talent Acquisition Managers to collaborate on staffing strategies, review pipelines, and share candidates for open positions in the Mastery network
  • Partner with Mastery’s Outreach Team to share staffing needs and pipeline trends and execute sourcing strategies to ensure a strong pipeline of mission-aligned, highly effective teachers and support staff
  • Manage a portfolio of schools in Mastery's network
  • Serve as an effective talent partner to assigned campuses by communicating and meeting regularly to track all teacher and support staff hiring needs, partner on retention and succession planning strategies, and maintain strong relationships as a trusted talent advisor to principals and hiring managers
  • Support campus hiring managers with scheduling and facilitating final round interviews for finalist candidates
  • Manage reference check and offer processes for all teacher and support staff hires in campus portfolio
  • Coordinate efforts to ensure that offers are accepted and candidates are prepared to join the Mastery team
  • Act as a representative of Mastery Schools at recruitment events
  • Some evening and weekend commitments 
  • Travel to Mastery's campuses weekly and scheduled career fairs

  • Outstanding detail-orientation and organization skills
  • Strong customer service and communication skills – stands out to applicants and hiring managers for their timeliness, clear communication, and follow through
  • Ability to manage complex projects and prioritize a high volume of work with consistency and urgency
  • Solutions oriented proactive problem solver
  • Can operate effectively both independently and as a part of a team in a fast-paced working environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Exposure to applicant tracking systems is a plus
  • Entrepreneurial zeal and a sense of humor strongly preferred
  • Hungry for feedback and opportunities to learn and grow as a talent professional
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills


Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 1-2 years of recruitment or relevant professional experience or 5-7 years of recruitment or relevant professional experience
  • Teaching experience highly preferred
  • Experience in urban education and/or non-profit sector a plus


Physical/Environmental:
  • Ability to physically perform the essential duties of the role as required, and to work in the environmental conditions required, such as: traveling to network campuses; maneuvering in office spaces (including standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, speaking loudly and clearly, seeing and hearing things both near and far away); stooping, kneeling, reaching file cabinets/shelves; fine finger and hand manipulation in use of computer, chalkboard, dry erase, &/or projectors; filing, faxing, scanning, coping, typing, mailing, and making phone calls; sitting for up to two (2) hours looking at a computer monitor, using a keyboard/mouse, and typing.


Other Requirements
  • Position requires local &/or regional travel to Mastery and other sites.  Must have valid driver’s license and vehicle, or access to reliable transportation.
