Senior Database Reliability Engineer

Mercury is seeking a Senior Database Reliability Engineer to guide product engineers towards maximizing performance, efficiency, and reliability in their use of PostgreSQL.

Skills

5 years of PostgreSQL administration
Experience with managed database offerings
Infrastructure-as-Code tooling experience
Deep query optimization with PostgreSQL
Knowledge of combining PostgreSQL with other data systems
Scripting language proficiency (e.g. Python)

Responsibilities

Guide product engineers on performance improvements
Automate processes to reduce bottlenecks
Drive database upgrades and migrations
Collect and present database metrics for scaling discussions
Educate product engineers on data consistency and performance
Make code and infrastructure changes for better database interactions
