Brand Designer

About Monte Carlo

As businesses increasingly rely on data to power digital products and drive better decision-making, it’s mission-critical that this data is accurate and reliable. Monte Carlo, the data reliability company, is the creator of the industry's first end-to-end Data Observability platform. Named an Inc. Best Workplace for 2024, a DBTA Readers Choice for Best Data Observability Solution for 2024, a G2 Best Product for 2023, and the "New Relic for data" by Forbes, we've raised $236M from Accel, ICONIQ Growth, GGV Capital, Redpoint Ventures, IVP, and Salesforce Ventures. Monte Carlo works with data-driven companies like Fox, Pepsico, Amazon, American Airlines, and other leading enterprises to help them achieve trust in data.

Do you like imagining the unimaginable? Designing the incomprehensible? Hyperbolizing the clearly rhetorical?

As a hyper growth startup at the nexus of data and AI, we’re moving pretty fast (read: very, very fast) and we’re looking for our very first brand designer to help us take our brand to the next level.

We need an experienced swiss-army-knife brand designer and illustrator who knows how to navigate technical products, and wants to get their hands dirty contributing across the organization. You’ll own the visual manifestation of the Monte Carlo brand—from landing pages and event design to critical product illustrations—and work alongside an agile team of startup marketers to build this category from the ground up.

Note: This role is a true builder's role. If you’re looking to slot into an established creative team with clearly defined processes and deliverables, this probably isn’t the right fit for you. We work fast. We ship and iterate. And we generally have a pretty good time doing it.

Requirements

Our category is new, our product is technical, and our audience is experienced. And we need design that can transcend those challenges in a way that elevates our brand and drives demonstrable impact for our marketing team.

We’re looking for builders with original ideas who know how to work across a variety of mediums and disciplines to bring projects from concept to execution with limited direction and maximum impact.

Projects may come as thoughtful briefs, nuggets of thought, or a goal with no discernible direction at all. We need someone with ideas and opinions, who can take a half formed thought and deliver mockups and story boards that connect the dots.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Define and elevate Monte Carlo’s visual language with creative but approachable graphic designs and illustrations.

  • Create compelling product illustrations that communicate the impact of our product for multiple personas.

  • Maintain and police brand continuity across Marketing and Sales assets..

  • Manage front-end design and illustration for MonteCarloData.com, contributing illustrations yourself and managing freelancers.

  • Design cover images, blog illustrations, and ebooks, working off of outlines and a deep understanding of our customer.

  • Manage and serve as art director for contract designers, illustrators, videographers, and animators across a variety of cross-functional projects.

  • Create collateral for Marketing, Sales, and other go-to-market teams, including pitch decks, webinar decks, booth designs, digital advertisements, and pamphlets, among other assets.

  • Develop brand guidelines and documentation that can be leveraged by both internal parties and Monte Carlo’s partners to ensure consistency of brand and style.

We’re excited about you because you have:

  • 5+ years of startup experience, preferably in B2B SaaS

  • The ability to translate technical concepts into simple and evocative illustrations and designs

  • Proven track record of quick execution and “measuring in minutes”

  • Experience managing stakeholder expectations and prioritizing projects accordingly

  • Strong background in Adobe Suite and Figma, as well as practitioner tools like Canva

  • An autonomous spirit that thrives in a fast-paced environment

  • An ability to illustrate and design collateral across multiple mediums, from static paper and digital ads to event booths and website pages

  • A deep curiosity as it relates to understanding what motivates our customers and how to articulate that visually

  • Ability to sacrifice design that looks better for design that works harder—or better yet, you know how to find a fast, creative way to do both.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience animating or managing a team of animators.

  • Experience with post-production software like Premier, Final Cut, Da Vinci, etc.

Additional Information:

This role will receive a competitive salary, benefits, and equity package. The salary is only for US-based employees and will be aligned with the range below.

Various factors, including a candidate’s professional background and experience, are considered when determining compensation. Final offer amounts may vary from the amounts listed above.
