Software Tester I

Overview

Nakupuna Consulting is looking for a Software Tester I. The Software Tester I is a team member who is starting or in the early stages of their career in software quality assurance. As a part of the team, analyze and implement testing activities in support of the design, development, and implementation for a large software development project for a DoD agency (Navy). Ensure the delivered software and documentation is adequately tested and meets quality and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

Management may assign additional duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.Work closely with teammates and clients in design sessions to translate user requirements into system requirement specifications.

  • Write test scenarios, test cases, and test plans.
  • Perform functional and regression testing.
  • Identify and prepare test data in support of test activities.
  • Analyze, report, and track defects found during testing.
  • Track and communicate project testing status to key stakeholders throughout the development process.
  • Use best practices to test and deploy changes from staging environments to production.
  • Ensure delivery of code and systems meets performance, operational readiness, and other non-functional requirements.

Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of the Agile development process
  • Basic use of JIRA for requirements and defect management
  • Experience writing and executing SQL queries
  • Experience reading and editing XML files
  • Experience with PeopleSoft software preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Solid judgement and decision-making abilities
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in the role

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, or relevant work experience
  • 1-2 years of experience working in a software development, government, or Department of Defense environments preferred

Clearance: A background investigation at the T3 level is required, as this is not currently a classified position. Must be a U.S. citizen.

 

Work Location: Work location will be in Honolulu, Hawaii 2 days on-site with a hybrid option.

 

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.

The Nakupuna Companies use a market-based compensation strategy to ensure that our employees are compensated within applicable market ranges commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, and position location. The projected compensation range for this position is $70,000.00 to $80,000.00 (annualized USD). The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
