Job Summary
We are a venture-backed startup developing next-generation orchestration software for autonomous systems. Our platform enables the complex coordination of multi-domain robotic systems with applications in defense and commercial sectors.
We are seeking a junior robotics systems engineer to support our hardware integration team. Our multi-agent orchestration software needs to be provisioned on various, multi-domain hardware platforms, including autonomous aerial, ground, surface, and subsurface vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in designing and implementing robotic system components
Support integration of hardware components (sensors, actuators, controllers) with software systems
Participate in software development using ROS2 and basic middleware technologies
Help develop and test basic algorithms for robotic navigation and perception
Contribute to system-level testing and validation in simulated environments
Collaborate with senior engineers to understand system requirements
Maintain documentation and support knowledge sharing efforts
Learn and apply emerging robotics technologies
Participate in team design reviews and technical discussions
Required Qualifications
This position requires the candidate to be a "U.S. Person" as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15). You must be either:
A U.S. citizen
A lawful permanent resident (green card holder)
A refugee, asylee, or other protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)
Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Control Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
2+ years of professional experience in robotics, engineering, or similar role
Demonstrated experience with software development in C++ and/or Python
Solid understanding of robotic system principles and architectures
Proficiency in basic robotic sensor integration (LIDAR, EO/IR cameras, IMU, GPS)
Experience with robotic simulation tools (e.g., Gazebo, RViz)
Ability to work in collaborative, fast-paced environments
Basic experience with edge computing platforms (e.g. Jetson, Raspberry Pi)
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical ideas effectively
Enthusiasm for creating innovative robotic systems that push the boundaries of technology and improve lives
Preferred Qualifications
Coursework or projects in advanced robotics concepts
Familiarity with ROS2 and distributed robotics systems
Familiarity with PX4, MAVLink, or other flight control systems
Familiarity with autonomous system development
Experience with hardware interfaces (CAN, UART, Ethernet)
Basic understanding of motion planning and control systems
Basic algorithm development for path planning, control, and localization
Familiarity with RTOS and real-time robotics performance optimization
Experience integrating software on proprietary robotics platforms
Previous experience in a startup environment
Willingness to obtain a U.S. Security clearance

This is a contract-to-hire position with an expected compensation range of $50–$100 per hour, commensurate with your experience, portfolio, and ability to contribute to project success.

*These benefits apply following the initial contract period, assuming the contractor transitions to W2 full-time employment.
