What You’ll Do

Hungryroot is looking for a Payroll and Benefits Associate to join our growing People team. The Payroll and Benefits Associate will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of our payroll and benefits processes, educating the team about our comprehensive benefits, and become an instrumental player in the growth of our operations as we scale. 

This individual will support diverse employee populations across the US, getting hands-on experience building processes from scratch. This position requires someone who is excited to try new things, experiment with new processes, and operate under a great deal of autonomy. The ideal candidate has taken part in payroll transitions, particularly the transitioning from a PEO to an internal payroll. This role is newly created to meet the demands of our rapidly growing team, and will report to the Manager, People Team.

Responsibilities 

• Complete weekly and bi-weekly payroll cycles for exempt and non exempt employees
• Assess and recommend determination of new role/employee status based on company policy and applicable laws & regulations
• Liaison between employees and benefit vendors to resolve issues and clarify plan details
• Manage benefits administration processes
• Manage unemployment claims and tax upkeep
• Manage leave of absences
• Manage employment verifications

Requirements 

• 3 years of experience working with a payroll platform
• 3 years of experience working with an insurance broker/directly with carriers
• Deep knowledge of payroll practices, laws, and regulations
• Recent experience working at a startup/other fast-paced and growing environment
• HRIS expertise, advanced Excel knowledge, and previous experience transitioning Payroll in-house from a PEO are all a plus!
