Jefferson County is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Budget Analyst to support the Budget Analyst Supervisor, financial directors, and county officials in the development and coordination of multi-departmental operating and capital budgets within a large, centralized budget management office. The ideal candidate will have experience in governmental budgeting, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate financial information effectively to various stakeholders. The Budget Analyst will be responsible for monitoring expenditures, processing budget amendments, reallocations, and fund transfers to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures. This role also involves assisting departments with contracts and agenda items, providing guidance on budgetary policies, and ensuring adherence to established fiscal guidelines. Additionally, the Budget Analyst will assist in the publication of official budgets and the preparation of formal monitoring reports. This position operates within an office environment and does not include supervisory responsibilities.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The following are job-related qualifications that are required for employment consideration for this position:
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Marketing.
Experience assisting in the development of an operational budget to include cost analysis, fiscal allocation, and budget preparation.
Experience preparing financial reports following established procedures and regulations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience managing and maintaining position control within an organization.
Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., UKG, Workday, etc.).
Experience collaborating with leaders or stakeholders across different departments or organizations.
TYPICAL JOB DUTIES:
Acts as a liaison of the department by collaborating with and supporting internal and external stakeholders to assist with budget-related activities and communicating departmental information to ensure services are adequately provided.
Develops operating budgets for respective County and County departments (e.g., retirement credit program, police department, Sheriff’s office, E-911).
Reviews and inputs budget amendments submitted by departments to include travel requests, position control forms, capital equipment requests, etc.
Publish official operating/capital budgets by developing and maintaining budget monitoring models to produce formal monitoring reports.
Monitors operating budgets for respective County and County departments (e.g., retirement credit program, police department, Sheriff’s office, E-911).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
