Hertha Metals is currently building a 1 tonne per day pilot plant in Texas that will produce green iron from low-grade iron ore through our scalable process.

Vice President of Business Development

Hertha Metals is scaling up its revolutionary steelmaking technology. We are seeking a strategic and experienced Vice President of Business Development to drive commercialization of Hertha’s product. You must enjoy working in a fast-paced startup environment where creativity, speed, initiative and cross-functional teamwork are required to succeed.  This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer. 

Your responsibilities

  • Alongside the CEO, define the company's vision, strategy and roadmap, aligning with overall business and impact objectives.

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive business growth.

  • Identify new business opportunities within the industry.

  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers and customers.

  • Manage key client relationships.

  • Conduct market research and analysis, and develop pricing strategies.

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment with overall business goals.

  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns, attend industry events and conferences.

  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and competitors.

Your experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (Business, Marketing, Economics). Graduate degree is preferred.

  • Minimum of 6 years in a business development leadership role, with preferably at least two years of experience in the metals industry.

  • Proven track record of leadership in steel, or commodity companies, preferably in a startup environment.

  • Must be a subject matter expert at finding and validating new business opportunities and developing a compelling business case for them.

  • Must demonstrate solid listening skills and a consultative sales approach, with proven ability to identify and build relationships

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment

  • Strong team player with demonstrated interpersonal skills.  Good communicator.

Location: on-site at facility in Conroe, Texas just outside of Houston. Possibility of a hybrid schedule, with 3 days in the office, and 2 days of remote work.
