UX Designer US-NJ-Princeton Job ID: 2024-20070 Type: Full-Time # of Openings: 1 Category: Information Technology OverviewThe Accelerator seeks a UX Designer to work with team members to develop, deploy, and improve data-intensive applications and processes. Working within the engineering team and as part of a small cross-functional team, this individual will participate in product design and iterative development to support the mission of powering policy-relevant research by building shared infrastructure. This professional will create designs focused on the user, conduct user research and usability testing, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.The term of this appointment is 1 year, with the possibility of renewal based upon satisfactory performance and funding.A remote work arrangement within the United States may be considered for candidates with the appropriate background and experience. University-paid business travel to Princeton, NJ may be required approximately 2-4 times per year.Responsibilities- Collaborate closely with and across teams to conceptualize, design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions. - Lead and conduct UX research, including user interviews, surveys, and focus groups with a focus on extracting actionable insights- Anticipate and resolve complex design and development challenges with innovative thinking and advanced problem-solving techniques throughout the product development lifecycle- Design systems with complex data privacy and conditional access requirements, understanding tiered access structures - Design collaborative and educational structures within the platform to enable knowledge sharing, user empowerment, and continuous learning among diverse users - Design UI interfaces, dashboards, and web assets that meet both user experience goals and technical requirements- Select and implement dynamic, accessible data visualizations that enhance user interaction and understanding while adhering to inclusivity and accessibility standards- Support beta testing processes, giving beta testers access to the pipeline - Iteratively improve product design informed by feedback from beta testers and stakeholders - Collaborate with developers to outline end-user requirements for non-visual elements, including APIs and Authentication layers to work with end-user softwareQualificationsEssential Qualifications:- 3+ years of expertise in User Experience Research (UXR), applying both qualitative and quantitative methods to inform design decisions - Experience using wireframe technologies such as Balsamiq or Figma to create mockups, wireframes, and high-fidelity, interactive user-centered prototypes - Proficiency in interaction design, creating intuitive and engaging user flows and interactions - Strong knowledge of inclusivity and accessibility standards, ensuring designs cater to diverse user needs - Good understanding of building data driven applications, dashboards and interactive data frameworksPreferred Qualifications:- Experience working in an agile environment - Mixed experience working in industry and on academic research software is desirable but not requiredPrinceton University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer - https://rrr.princeton.edu/eop and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
