Finance Associate

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Associate to support the financial operations of a growing network of restaurant merchants. This role will involve managing complex partner relationships, handling bespoke deal terms, consolidating corporate expenses, preparing sales tax transactional data, and supporting key accounting and bookkeeping functions. The ideal candidate is organized, has strong analytical skills, and is proficient in both Google Sheets and Excel for the organization and analysis of financial data.

Location: Fully remote. 9AM - 5pm EST

Key Responsibilities

  • Merchant Payments: Manage and execute payments to over 400 restaurant & retail merchants, ensuring accuracy and timeliness according to each merchant’s bespoke deal terms, timing, & pricing. Requires proficiency in navigating, interpreting, and updating large and complex financial workbooks in Google Sheets and Excel and extreme attention to detail.

  • Corporate Card Consolidation: Oversee and consolidate corporate card expenses, ensuring proper categorization and alignment with budget allocations. Requires the development of a sophisticated understanding of our P&L and core business expenses and communication/coordination with our senior leadership team members

  • Sales Tax Filing: Prepare and vet transactional CSV uploads to be uploaded into TaxJar each month, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with each state our merchants operate in.

  • Accounting & Bookkeeping: Capable of supporting general accounting tasks, including reconciliation of accounts, tracking of financial transactions, and ensuring financial records are accurate and up-to-date.

  • Spreadsheet Management: Extensive experience and a high degree of proficiency with both Google Sheets and Excel for financial tracking, data analysis, and reporting, ensuring both data integrity and accuracy.

  • Financial Analysis & Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial reports, identifying trends and providing insights to support business decisions.

  • Effective Expense Management: Efficient management of corporate card expenses, ensuring timely consolidation and reporting are accurate.

  • Tax Compliance: Enabling the accurate and timely filing of sales taxes, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and minimizing errors.

  • Insightful Financial Reporting: Delivery of comprehensive financial reports and analyses that contribute to informed business decisions.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or a related field, with a background in managing partner/vendor payments preferred.

  • Organization & Attention to Detail: Highly organized with strong attention to detail, able to manage complex deal terms and ensure accuracy in financial transactions.

  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Google Sheets and Excel, with experience in advanced spreadsheet functions and data management.

  • Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and communicate financial information clearly.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities with experience in financial analysis and reporting.

  • Tax Knowledge: Familiarity with sales tax processes; specific experience with TaxJar is highly preferred.
