Network Sr Engineer

Overview

Quest Software is seeking a highly skilled Network Engineering Senior Advisor to design, implement, and maintain our network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of network protocols, security measures, and troubleshooting techniques. This role requires a proactive approach to network management and a commitment to delivering high-performance, secure, and reliable network solutions.

  100% remote - candidate MUST be located in Panama.

Responsibilities

- Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN) tailored to Quest Software's specific needs.

- Configure and install network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPN concentrators.

- Monitor network performance and troubleshooting issues to ensure optimal speed and functionality.

- Implement and manage BGP for optimal routing and path selection, ensuring efficient data transfer and network stability.

- Develop and maintain network security measures, including access control, disaster recovery plans, and intrusion detection systems.

- Mentor and support junior network engineers and technicians, providing guidance and training on best practices.

- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for all network configurations and changes.

- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of network solutions with other systems and applications.

- Propose improvements to network performance, capacity, and scalability based on ongoing analysis and monitoring.

- Conduct network modeling and analysis to construct a reliable, high-performance integrated network.

- Plan for and respond to service outages and other network issues, minimizing downtime and impact on business operations.

- Stay up to date with the latest network technologies and industry trends to ensure Quest Software remains at the forefront of network innovation.

Qualifications

- 5+ years proven experience as a Senior Network Engineer or Network Administrator, preferably with a focus on BGP and deep network setup.

- Professional certification (e.g., CCNP, CCDP) is highly desirable.

- In-depth knowledge of network administration and architecture, with a strong understanding of communication protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF).

- Familiarity with network security models and coding languages for scripting (e.g., Python, Perl).

- Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark).

- Solid understanding of network operating systems, especially Cisco IOS, Fortinet FortiOS, and other relevant platforms.

- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Strong organizational and mentoring skills, with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

- Experience with load balancer configuration and management.

- Familiarity with cloud networking solutions on Azure and AWS, including VPC, security groups, routing tables, and VPN setup.

 

Preferred Skills:

- Experience with Cisco Nexus Data Center switching hardware and software.

- Knowledge of MPLS, QoS, NAT, IPv4, IPv6, and other advanced networking concepts.

- Experience with enterprise SaaS platforms and cloud-based networks.

- Familiarity with network automation tools and scripting for network management tasks.

- Experience with Meraki Wi-Fi solutions and their configuration and management.
