About The Role
Seaport Entertainment is looking for an Accountant based in our New York office for our rapidly growing company. Reporting to the Accounting Manager and as a key member of the accounting team, they will perform various accounting functions for the portfolio, with a focus on our Entertainment Segment.
What You Will Do
General Accounting:
Support with day-to-day accounting operations.
Process sales for concert ticketing and other entertainment operations
Analyze general ledger and prepare journal entries as appropriate (e.g. accruals, reclasses)
Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
Manage end to end month end reconciliation and review process (Balance Sheets, P&L reviews, additional workpapers)
Manage and track entertainment and sponsorship agreements, ensure accurate AR billings, reconcile the AR subledger
Bank and Cash Management:
Ensure proper reconciliation of various bank accounts and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.
Post daily cash journal entries and ensure accuracy.
Fixed Assets and Prepayments:
Identify, record, and ensure the timely capitalization of fixed assets.
Track prepayments and post amortization entries as needed.
Collaboration and Process Improvement:
Raise accounting issues and coordinate with the accounting team to drive consistency across processes and controls.
Collaborate with the operations team on concert and sponsorship activity.
Assist the Accounting Manager with ad-hoc tasks and entries.
Audit and Reporting:
Assist with year-end audit requests by preparing necessary documentation and analysis.
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) 404
Handle other ad-hoc assignments as needed.
About You
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
2+ years of experience in an accounting or financial role preferred
Strong computer skills; D365 experience is a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Highly organized with attention to detail
Thrives in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
Compensation: $73,000- $100,000 plus benefits
