Job Title: Special Education TeacherJob Description:We are seeking a passionate and qualified Special Education Teacher to join our educational team. This role involves working with students who have a range of learning, emotional, and physical disabilities, developing individualized education plans (IEPs), and collaborating with educators and families to create a supportive learning environment. The ideal candidate will possess the required certifications and demonstrate a commitment to inclusive education.Key Responsibilities:• Develop, implement, and regularly update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities in accordance with federal, state, and district guidelines.• Adapt and modify curriculum and instruction to meet the unique needs of each student.• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and administrators to ensure that students receive appropriate accommodations and services.• Assess students’ progress and adjust educational strategies to ensure their continued growth and success.• Provide differentiated instruction in inclusive and self-contained classrooms, depending on student needs.• Communicate with parents and guardians about student progress, challenges, and potential strategies to support learning at home.• Utilize positive behavior support strategies to create a conducive learning environment.• Maintain accurate student records, including progress reports, assessments, and IEP documentation.• Attend IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development sessions as required.Qualifications:• Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s Degree preferred).• Valid Delaware Teaching Certificate with a Special Education endorsement.• Certification in Special Education from the Delaware Department of Education (K-12 or appropriate grade levels).• Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations concerning special education, including IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act).• Experience in creating and implementing IEPs.• Excellent communication and organizational skills.• Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators, parents, and support staff.Preferred Qualifications:• Experience working with students with a variety of disabilities, such as autism, learning disabilities, speech or language impairments, emotional disturbances, and other health impairments.• Familiarity with assistive technology, behavior intervention strategies, and differentiated instruction techniques.• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.Licensure and Certification Requirements:• Delaware Initial or Continuing Teaching License: Applicants must hold a valid Delaware teaching license.• Delaware Certification in Special Education (K-12): Candidates must have a special education certification appropriate to the grade level and student needs they will serve.• Praxis Exam: A passing score on the Praxis II Special Education exam, as required by the Delaware Department of Education.• Criminal Background Check and Fingerprinting: Required for all educational staff in Delaware.Work Environment:• Full-time, school-year position in a public or charter school setting.• Potential for work in both inclusive and specialized classroom settings.• The role may require physical activity to assist students with mobility challenges.Application Instructions:• To apply, please email your resume to Bennett.Freeman@Soliant.com
