Employee Relations Manager

The Employee Relations Manager plays a key role in developing a competitive talent position for Stand Together by reducing risk through the investigation and resolution of employee concerns, establishment of standards of operational excellence, risk mitigation strategies, and HR support. The role involves acting as the employee relations center of excellence lead investigator, maintaining employee relations trackers, and staying updated on employment laws. 


How You Will Contribute
  • Thoroughly and expeditiously conduct fair, consistent, and unbiased investigations related to complex employee concerns. 
  • Provide recommendations for the appropriate course of action based on the outcome of investigations. 
  • Use excellent interviewing, interpersonal, and documentation techniques and use the designated employee relations tools for reporting, documenting, and tracking investigations.  
  • Maintain the employee relations tracker and archive to ensure cases are recorded accurately, updated through investigations, and closed properly. 
  • Stay current on federal and state employment laws and communicate strategies for implementation. 
  • Develop and uphold best practices for the Employee Relations Center of Excellence (ER COE) tools and resources. 
  • Present findings and recommendations to Human Resource Leaders (HRLs) and supervisors, partnering with Legal team and HR/business leaders as necessary. 
  • Collaborate within the HR capability to share knowledge and identify opportunities for teamwork.  
  • Analyze data to provide insights that inform decisions, mitigate risks, and strengthen talent positions, including working with HRLs to enhance skills in employee relations. 
  • Create reports for HRLs, leaders, and Legal teams, highlighting trends and potential mitigation strategies. 
  • Manage Lighthouse systems: address claims, conduct yearly maintenance tests, update distribution lists, and coordinate with Lighthouse partners. 
  • Support various projects such as exit interviews, supervisor training, and process improvements in liaison with Legal. 
  • Uphold the highest level of accountability and maintain credibility throughout the organization, ensuring strict adherence to the integrity of and sensitivity in handling all aspects of private data and confidential matters. 


What You Will Bring
  • High degree of business acumen and a deep interest in learning and applying Principle-Based Management to business challenges. 
  • 5+ years of experience in a role focused on employee relations or related HR role applying best practices and compliance standards. 
  • Ability to build credible partnerships at all levels of the organization and provide effective feedback and challenge that drives accountability and prompts action. 
  • Strong understanding of federal and state employment laws. 
  • Examples of leading change management initiatives. 
  • Ability to synthesize talent data and provide recommendations or prompt moments of insight. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excitement for the vision and mission of Stand Together. 
  • Ability to travel to Stand Together’s office in Arlington, VA and to various investigation sites as needed.
