Job Posting: Operations Analyst with Management Consulting Experience

Location: Newark, New Jersey (Hybrid – up to 3 days a week in the office)

Position Overview:
We are seeking an Operations Analyst with Management Consulting Experience to join our team. This is a highly analytical role that will focus on manpower planning, resource allocation, and providing critical operational insights to support project delivery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in management consulting, with experience in Excel analysis, resource planning, and creating impactful PowerPoint presentations. This role is integral to ensuring efficient project execution, data-driven decision-making, and effective resource utilization for our clients in the power and utilities sectors.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed manpower and resource planning to ensure optimal allocation of resources across projects.

  • Use advanced Excel techniques to analyze operational data, track project progress, and identify trends and areas for improvement.

  • Prepare and present PowerPoint presentations to communicate key findings, recommendations, and operational metrics to stakeholders.

  • Develop and maintain resource models and provide forecasting support for client projects, ensuring alignment with project timelines and deliverables.

  • Work closely with project managers and senior leadership to provide data-driven insights for project planning and execution.

  • Support the development of project schedules, identifying resource constraints and proposing solutions to ensure smooth project delivery.

  • Participate in client meetings to provide operational insights and analysis that inform strategic decisions.

  • Develop process improvements to streamline operations and enhance project efficiency.

  • Create and manage dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators and project metrics.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 3+ years of management consulting experience, ideally with a focus on operations, project management, or resource planning.

  • Big 4 experience or experience in a strategy consulting firm is preferred.

  • Strong experience in manpower planning, resource management, and providing operational support in a consulting environment.

  • Proficient in Excel (advanced functions, modeling, pivot tables) and PowerPoint for creating presentations and reports.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.

  • Experience in the power, renewables, or utilities sectors is preferred, but not required.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Smartsheets, MS Project, or similar) is a plus.
