Thoropass combines software with expert guidance to help SaaS, Health, and FinTech companies manage security compliance, security audits, and
enterprise procurement security diligence. Thoropass helps companies adopt stage-appropriate compliance practices that enterprises can trust and reduce the time and costs of security audits by 50% or more.
We were founded in May 2019 and raised our Series C funding in November 2022. Our top investors include J.P. Morgan, PayPal Ventures, Fin Capital, Centana, and Bain Capital. We're growing customers and revenue dramatically, and we’re poised for continued break-out growth in 2024 and beyond.
About the Role
As the Director of Product Marketing, you will take the lead role in building, shaping, and executing our product marketing strategy. Your technical background and deep understanding of the security and compliance automation market will enable you to bridge the gap between product development and GTM execution. You will manage the Product Marketing team, and roll up your sleeves to lead go-to-market strategies, create compelling messaging, and ensure that our products meet the evolving needs of our Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) - CISOs and security teams. You will focus on developing detailed use cases and personalizing marketing efforts that resonate with our target audience.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Product Positioning & Messaging:
- Develop and articulate compelling value propositions for our compliance automation products tailored to CISO personas.
- Create and refine product messaging that resonates with target audiences and differentiates our offerings from competitors.
- Collaborate with product management and sales to develop and document detailed use cases for our products that illustrate how our products solve specific compliance challenges for our ICP.
- Work closely with product management to influence product roadmap decisions based on market insights and customer feedback.
2. Go-to-Market Strategy:
- Lead the development and execution of go-to-market strategies for product launches and updates.
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, and product teams to align on market needs, product features, and launch timelines.
3. Market Research & Competitive Analysis:
- Conduct market research to understand industry trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the compliance automation market and use insights to inform product development and marketing strategies.
4. Sales & CS Enablement:
- Partner with the sales enablement and sales engineering teams to develop sales enablement materials, including sales decks, product demos, training sessions, and competitive battle cards.
- Train the sales team on product features, benefits, and competitive positioning to enhance their ability to effectively sell our products.
- Partner with the sales and customer success teams to ensure seamless customer experiences and successful product adoption.
5. Persona Development:
- Develop and maintain detailed profiles of our ICP, including pain points, goals, and decision-making criteria.
- Use persona insights to tailor marketing messages and content that resonate with target customers.
6. Content Development:
- Create and oversee the production of high-quality marketing collateral, including whitepapers, case studies, blog posts, and webinars.
- Ensure content is technically accurate, engaging, and aligned with the company’s messaging and positioning.
7. Industry Engagement:
- Become a sought after industry expert on the core issues facing the compliance management industry today
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and webinars.
- Stay current on industry developments and best practices and translate the “voice of the market” into product opportunities
Qualifications:
- 7-10 years of experience in product marketing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record in marketing compliance automation software or related cybersecurity products to CISOs or similar technical audiences.
- Strong technical background with the ability to understand complex compliance and cybersecurity solutions and translate technical features into compelling value propositions and customer benefits.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data to drive decisions and optimize marketing performance.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Computer Science, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- Willingness to travel as needed to meet with customers, attend industry events, and collaborate with teams.
Compensation:
- The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $180,000, which will be commensurate with experience
