Job DescriptionNauticus Robotics is seeking a motivated and talented Software Engineering Intern to join our underwater robotics team. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to develop and improve on real-world robotics projects, collaborate with experienced engineers and researchers, and gain hands-on experience with the latest robotics software and hardware. You will receive mentorship and guidance from senior engineers throughout your internship, helping you develop your skills and knowledge in robotics.FOR CONSIDERATIONThis is a full-time internship. You must be available for at least 40.00 hours a week.This is an on-site position. You must be available to commute or relocate during normal business hours for this role.**Please note this position will start in August 2024 and conclude in December 2024.Qualifications:Additional InformationRequiredA junior or senior student currently pursuing a degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System).Fluency in C++ and/or Python.Comfortable working in simulation environments such as Gazebo.Competency in using Docker and the Linux command line interface for development and debugging.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as in a team.Excellent communication skills and the ability to document your work clearly.Enthusiasm for robotics and a desire to learn and grow in the field.PreferredPrior internship experienceParticipation in extracurricular engineering activities or experience on competitive engineering teams which may include organizations such as Formula SAE, Baja SAE, RoboSub, FIRST Robotics, etc.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to remain in a stationary position. The employee will be required to operate a computer and will consistently use other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. as necessary.The employee must possess the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.The employee will frequently move, transport, position, install, and or remove equipment of at a minimum of up to 25 pounds for various needs.The employee must possess the ability to observe details at close range. The employee must be able to ascend/descend a ladders and maneuver in tight spaces.WORK ENVIRONMENTThis job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.In addition, while performing some duties of this job, the employee may be required to travel domestically.
