The Role


Complex Networks is looking for a passionate Freelance Tik tok Strategist with a deep knowledge of video production, editing, social media (specifically short form platforms), and the internet to collaborate on and create compelling videos for our growing Tik Tok presence. You'll be diplomatic, solutions-oriented, and professional in high-pressure situations. You have a deep understanding of virality, the ability to craft compelling and engaging material across a range of subjects, and a passion for content creation.


You Will


  • Uphold the voice of Complex socials, exhibiting excellent judgment and audience-sensitive framing.
  • Content Creation: Creating and curating engaging and relevant content for TikTok, including videos, captions, hashtags, and more.
  • Planning and scheduling content, ensuring a consistent posting schedule that aligns with overall content strategy. 
  • Keeping up with the latest trends, challenges, and hashtags on TikTok, and incorporating them into the video ideation.
  • Monitoring, analyzing, and translating the performance of TikTok content using TikTok's analytics and other reporting tools. 
  • Keeping up-to-date with the latest updates and changes in TikTok's algorithm, features, and best practices.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, such as video, design, and content to align TikTok efforts with overall brand strategies.
  • Identifying TikTok influencers and content creators who align with Complex.
  • Help maintain a positive and supportive culture for the social media team.


You Have


  • 1-2 years of social media and content creation experience with a publisher, brand, or music related space.
  • A deep understanding of the Complex content, voice, and tone.
  • Proficiency in filming on mobile and editing video content with TikTok, CapCut, and Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Interest in data around user engagement, viewership, and ability to iterate on success.
  • Interest in partaking in social video shoots with talent, both in studio and at events 
  • Ability to film/edit and support on “Man on the Street” style videos
  • Positive, intuitive, proactive, and collaborative team player.
  • Robust knowledge of current events + hip-hop + and the current music landscape
  • Passion for social media, trending topics, sounds, and content
