Salary: $56,882-$71,097 (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)
Status: Temporary, Full-Time

Position Summary

As a key member of the financial services function, the Analyst I, Financial performs a broad scope of professional accounting activities requiring experience, professional knowledge, and application of accounting principles and practices. The Analyst I, Financial performs, relatively independently, a wide range of detailed and complex accounting and advisory functions requiring professional judgement pertaining to assigned program area, accounts or department and ensures day-to-day operations are carried out in accordance with established accounting principles, policies and objectives. 

Duties:

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly/yearly journal entries as required
  • Perform analysis on a daily, weekly and/or monthly basis for a range of complex functional centre accounts
  • Perform complex analysis of financial and/or statistical data and preparing reports and/or commentary for management review and decision making
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, year-end financial and/or statistical schedules, statements and/or reports for distribution to internal and/or external client
  • Assist management as required in more complex/specialized assignments
  • Perform cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Business Administration or equivalent 
  • Two to Three years (2-3) related experience in an accounting environment with exposure to a range of accounting principles, practices and procedures 
  • Experience with SAP, preferred 
  • Working towards completion of a professional accounting program, preferred – eg. CPA or relevant combination of education and experience 
  • Ability to analyze and interpret large quantities of financial and statistical data; systems thinker 
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment, preferred
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills with strong organization and time management skills 
  • Skill in accurately performing detailed numerical computations in a timely manner using large amounts of financial and/or statistical data 
  • Sound professional judgment, initiative, and the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines 
  • Strong knowledge of computer application accounting systems & software applications, preferably in a Microsoft Office environment (i.e., Excel, SharePoint, Word, Access) 
  • Adheres to confidentiality policy for sensitive financial & clinical data and information
