Additionally, we create seamless experiences for our merchants, suppliers, sellers, and 2.1 million in-store associates to help them deliver great value to our customers. As part of this expansive mission, we also maintain and evolve a robust Design System, which is used across Walmart's diverse portfolio-from core consumer-facing experiences to the internal tools supporting our global supply chain.This opportunity is based in San Bruno, CA, and requires 5 days a week in the office.As a Principal UX Designer, you will set the vision for the best experiences and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners. You will use your knowledge of the Design Thinking process to collaborate with partner teams, facilitate conversations, create concepts, run design sprints, and build rapid prototypes to leverage the collective creativity. Your work will focus on crafting scalable solutions that balance business goals, technology considerations, and user needs, ensuring consistency and quality across every touchpoint. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the overall design direction for key programs, You will lead high-impact projects, facilitate design sprints, and ensure your teams have the tools and systems they need to work quickly and with confidence.You'll Make An Impact By• Driving Design System Excellence: Partner with the Design Systems team to create and maintain scalable, reusable components that support a broad set of teams and experiences across the organization. You'll ensure that designs are consistent and aligned with Walmart's design principles.• Strategic Design Leadership: Lead the design direction for large-scale programs, balancing business needs with user-centered design principles. Create solutions that are both functional and engaging for customers and associates.• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, engineers, marketing, and other stakeholders to drive projects from ideation to execution. You will ensure that design systems and patterns are integrated effectively across the product lifecycle.• Facilitating Design Thinking: Lead and facilitate Design Thinking sessions and design sprints to inspire cross-functional teams, encourage creative problem-solving, and refine concepts based on user feedback.• Prototyping and Experimentation: Experiment and prototype rapidly in a fast-paced environment to validate design concepts. Ensure that user feedback and research findings inform your design iterations.• Mentorship and Team Leadership: Inspire, mentor, and provide constructive feedback to junior designers. Foster a collaborative and inclusive design culture where creativity thrives.• Maintaining Design Consistency: Provide feedback and governance on designs submitted by other teams, ensuring alignment with the overall Design System and maintaining consistency in visual design, interaction design, and user experience.• Championing User-Centered Design: Advocate for the needs of customers and associates at every stage of the design process.
