Group Creative Director (Writer)

The Role


Wpromote is expanding our brand advertising capabilities, and we’re looking for a Group Creative Director, Writer to help lead the charge. As a GCD, Writer, you’ll be responsible for setting the creative vision across multiple clients, leading and driving the brand narrative for our new business pitches, and building and managing a high-performing team. You’ll work closely with our SVP, Head of Creative, collaborate across disciplines, and drive client relationships at the highest levels. 


This role is for a self-starter who can drive work, but also roll up their sleeves to make work, who has a track record of pitching and winning new business, and who thrives in generating big ideas across the full-funnel—from Linear TV and CTV to paid digital, social, and everything in between.

The anticipated annual salary for this role will range from $180,000 - $220,000, based on consideration of a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, education and certifications, competitive benchmarks, scope of responsibility, market dynamics, geographic location, and respective state’s salary threshold for exempt employees. The total compensation package for this role will include benefits (listed above) and an annual performance bonus.


This role has an associated annual target bonus component which is paid out based on a number of factors which include Company performance, department performance, and individual performance. Bonuses are not guaranteed and you must be an active employee in good standing and not on a Performance Improvement Plan to be eligible for the annual bonus.


*This position may be performed remotely in most states within the US, with some exclusions

**While this role offers the flexibility to work remotely, we have office hubs in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, where you can join in on learning and development opportunities, fun events, take advantage of a space to work, and collaborate in person!

You Will Be
  • Leading the creative vision and execution for multiple high-profile brands, ensuring work is innovative, strategic, and culturally relevant.
  • Driving the development of big-idea, full-funnel advertising campaigns spanning TV, CTV, digital video, social, and more.
  • Partnering with the SVP, Head of Creative to drive the Creative Department, grow the team’s creative capabilities, hire FTE and freelancers, and work autonomously to drive and lead multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Pitching and winning new business with smart, compelling, creative presentations crafted by you and your team members.
  • Working in unison with other agency departments, including Media, Strategy, Client Services, Production, Project Management, etc.
  • Collaborating closely with Art Directors, Copywriters, Designers, Motion teams, and Strategists to deliver best-in-class creative.
  • Hiring, Managing and mentoring a team of high-performing creatives, delivering real-time feedback and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Partnering directly with C-level clients, building strong relationships, and influencing brand strategy through creative leadership.
  • Bringing deep production expertise, with a network of freelance creatives, makers, and other talent to tap into at varying budget levels.
  • Staying ahead of industry trends, championing breakthrough creative, and pushing for work that earns attention and drives business results.


You Must Have
  • 10+ years of experience in creative advertising, with at least 5 years leading teams at top-tier creative agencies with an emphasis in the Digital space.
  • A strong background in copywriting and concepting—you know how to craft sharp, compelling, authentic and unexpected brand narratives.
  • A portfolio of award-winning work, showcasing big, culturally relevant brand campaigns across multiple channels.
  • Proven experience pitching and winning major brand accounts, leading your teams to the win
  • Led high-profile, culture-driving campaigns at creative agencies..
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to share and sell ideas effectively to clients at all levels, including C-suite executives with confidence and clarity.
  • Deep production knowledge, from conception to execution, including overseeing and leading shoots, overseeing edits, and optimizing for multiple formats.
  • A strong POV on brand storytelling, with the ability to elevate creative beyond performance marketing.
  • Experience working across consumer-facing brands, ideally spanning multiple industries.
  • The ability to manage multiple clients, projects, and teams simultaneously without missing a beat and build client relationships at the highest levels, from CMOs to brand leads.
  • A collaborative, fun, no-ego attitude—we want someone who inspires teams and makes the work better.
  • A strong network of creative industry talent and know-how to scale creative teams effectively.
  • Experience identifying, briefing, and working with Paid Influencers and UGC creators.
  • A deep understanding of the business challenges of your clients and experience leading them to successful results leveraging a full-funnel approach to marketing.
