Multidisciplinary Graphic Designer – 100% Remote

Company Description

We're a creative agency based in Cambridge, UK. We work with clients all over the world, producing both print and digital materials, from branding to brochures, websites to slide decks, and annual reports to animations. We stand for high-quality design that helps our clients achieve their communication goals.

Job Description

If you’re full of creativity, have an eye for detail, and are hungry to apply and deepen your graphic design skills across a wide range of media, then you’ll find this role uniquely rewarding.

You’ll be joining a small and ambitious creative agency during its exciting growth phase. We work with clients all over the world – across sectors including technology, education, finance, medicine and non-profit – producing both print and digital materials, from branding to brochures, websites to slide decks, and annual reports to animations. You’ll assist in delivering these, contribute to client meetings, and take on new projects of your own. We stand for high-quality design that helps our clients achieve their communication goals.

You’ll be joining as our first permanent employee. That means you’ll have a large amount of flexibility and responsibility, huge scope for advancement, and the opportunity to make the job what you want it to be. The job is suitable for applicants seeking junior or mid-level roles.

All our work is produced using Adobe Creative Cloud. Solid experience with these tools is essential – particularly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop – but you don’t need to be a world expert already. We’re looking for bright, fast learners who can pick up our techniques or master entire new skills, on the job, working closely with and being mentored by the Creative Director, alongside self-directed learning. You must have an instinct for good design and layout, and the ability to quickly determine the best approach to a client brief.

We’re based in Cambridge but you could be anywhere with a right to work in the UK. This is a genuinely 100% remote-working role (and always will be). Your home will be your official place of work. It is therefore crucial that you have a fast and reliable internet connection, and a workspace that is ergonomic, quiet and professional. We will provide computer and office equipment.

You’ll enjoy highly flexible working hours, generous holidays and private medical and dental insurance. We believe your work-life balance and health are extremely important. We want you to flourish in the role and love your job!

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level with at least a 2:1 result.
  • At least 3 years working regularly with Adobe Creative Cloud software, particularly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Experience gained either personally, academically or ideally professionally.

You will have:

  • An exceptional portfolio of clean and smart design work, either personal or professional, involving both traditional and digital media.
  • Creative flair that you can harness intelligently to achieve client design goals.
  • A big brain that works out what clients want, even from messy and unclear briefs.
  • An openness to new techniques. You're a fast learner and always looking to upskill. You happily say "I don't know" or "My mistake", and are receptive to feedback, because it's a chance to improve.
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills, and a highly professional manner.
  • A disciplined work ethic, allowing you to manage your workload independently, prioritising multiple simultaneous projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Advanced computer literacy, allowing you to work quickly and highly efficiently.
  • A suitable workspace in your home that meets our homeworking requirements (https://bit.ly/cnv-wfh).

The following desirable (but not required) traits will help you to stand out even more:

  • Experience working in a design agency or as a freelancer.
  • Skills across more Adobe or creative tools, such as XD, Premiere Pro, After Effects, or 3D graphics.
  • Knowledge of design theory or marketing principles, or actively studying either of these disciplines, either formally (e.g. diplomas) or informally (e.g. free online courses).
  • Good business sense that will help us grow the agency (but we don’t want salespeople).
  • Other specialist or advanced computer skills, e.g. web development, digital marketing tools.
  • Other creative skills such as photography, drawing, painting, etc.

If this sounds like you, we look forward to receiving your application!
