AVP, Portfolio Analyst

Zurich is seeking an AVP, Portfolio Analyst, focused on Middle Market Construction, to join our ZNA Construction underwriting team. This role can be based in any U.S. city with a Zurich office, offering a hybrid work schedule that requires 2-3 days per week in the office.The AVP, Portfolio Analyst role will partner with Construction’s field technical leaders to solve complex business problems with data and analytics.The Middle Market AVP, Portfolio Analyst is responsible for:• Serving as the resident data expert in middle market contractors - cultivate expertise on the relevant data across all internal and external sources as to the strengths, weaknesses, and quality of each so you can act as the go-to resource for choosing the right data to answer the question at hand• Provide real-time data-enabled decision support – deliver data and insights to track strategies, perform impact studies, and answer targeted business questions as they arise on a quick turn-around basis, through either direct hands-on work, directing the work of others, or working in collaboration with others within the BU or more broadly in Zurich• Present insights through visualizations to make complex data more understandable for non-technical stakeholders• Being a trusted advisor to leadership on all things data, leveraging an understanding of construction underwriting, business strategy, operations, and developing data trendsA successful candidate will have extensive experience using a technical and analytical skillset to solve business problems, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate technical results into easily understandable action plans.Basic Qualifications:• Bachelors Degree and 5 or more years of experience in Strategic Management AND• Travel 5%-10%Preferred Qualifications:• Experience in Business Insights & Analytics area including but not limited to data governance or data quality• Expert in Excel (5+ years of extensive experience including building pivots, performing data validation, managing large volumes of data)• Experience with SQL, Python, Tableau, Power BI to transform and analyze data• P&C insurance knowledge preferred; construction insurance background preferred• Excellent business acumen and communication skills, demonstrated ability to distill technical results into a form that is compelling to a business audience and to translate insight into actions• Strong data acumen, i.e., experience demonstrates that this candidate has a keen understanding of the strengths/weaknesses of different types of data and how to select/acquire the right data to solve the business problem at hand• Can successfully translate loosely defined business problems into an analytically tractable form• Has successfully delivered actionable business insights on a quick turn-around basis• Experience working with stakeholders to develop strategy and vision around the ways data and analytics can be leveraged to create value for the businessAt Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. The salary indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled.
