Job Description

AECOM’s West Region is actively seeking a highly motivated Geotechnical Project Engineer to join the Orange, California Geo-Civil team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on very challenging projects including Dams, Levees, Pipelines, Bridges, Tunnels, Building Structures, and other Facilities, and collaborate with a wide range of different disciplines.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee subsurface investigations including drilling exploration boreholes and advancing CPTs at various sites throughout Southern California
  • Review and assign laboratory testing for geotechnical samples
  • Oversee inspection of construction activities to monitor progress and assess conformance to engineering plans, specifications and construction standards
  • Perform and oversee geotechnical analyses including slope stability, seepage, settlement, earth retention, liquefaction, and shallow and deep foundations
  • Prepare geotechnical engineering reports and recommendations
  • Review regulations and standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project design and permitting work
  • Prepare and/or peer review designs, specifications, and construction documents
  • Assemble and document geotechnical data using software that includes: Excel, Word, gINT, AutoCAD
  • Apply QA/QC requirements to their own work and work of the project team

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus four (4) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Candidate must have a valid driver's license
  • Professional engineering license or ability to gain one within 6 months of hire 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Civil Engineering
  • Ten (10) years or more of experience
  • Geotechnical California GE registration is a plus
  • Working knowledge of relevant California seismic code provisions
  • Strong commitment to ensuring safe project execution
  • Local travel may be required
  • Experience working with local permitting jurisdictions
  • OSHA 40 Hour Hazwoper Certification
